Ah, it's got to be LCD Soundsystem. They're headlining major festivals around this world for sure, but they still may have passed a lot of people by. A lot of people questioned if they were deserving of their headline status, particularly as they weren't particularly big before they split up. They absolutely nailed the best set of the weekend at Glastonbury. They're this generations Talking Heads only a thousand times better. www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/p03yk1t8/glastonbury-2016-lcd-soundsystem

They've taken the best bits of all sorts of rock/pop, create euphoric tunes, they're great. I'm not having the 'thousand times better than Talking Heads' though. Unnecessary comparison. 'Stop Making Sense' the video/audio..... and such, ground breaking stuff. Any excuse to post some evidence. Nah... nowhere near a thousand times.... Not having that mate.

Perhaps a bit off topic, but if anyone lived or worked in the Boothen area in the 70s they most probably would have come across Kevin Sauntry and the Hanley Youth Project....a larger than life character with whom I shared many interesting " occasions". www.murphysmarbles.co.uk/the-band/

From Rick Wakeman's Piano Portraits. If you haven't heard this album then you must ...it's a classic if you like piano

The Seahorses Bit of a flash in the pan band, but their only album (Do It Yourself) is absolutely fantastic and worth giving a go. Not my usual contribution of neo-classical shred metal either

Ive shouted them out many times but Killing Joke are great. A mate introduced me to their new (at the time) album back in 2010. I was instantly hooked and within 2 weeks had their entire back catalogue. Id heard of them before, heard the famous Metallica cover but never heard their music. it was just a complete epiphany! You've got the abrasive post punk early years to the more melodic, dark, alternative sound of the 80s then right up to the later, more industrial, more metallic sound. There really is something for everyone, be it metal, rock, punk, alternative, new wave etc. No clichés either. Plus I love the esoteric, occasionally occult, anti establishment lyrics. They really are the soundtrack for the self respecting Conspiracy Theorist. I love it ALL 1 example from each era.. I'll give these a go...

One of the most interesting bands working today across mixed media like game scores, films etc. Health.

Gone for a few bands who I don’t think get the recognition they deserve in the wider public (that fits into the parameters of this thread anyway) and have chosen a few songs all from different albums
Death From Above (formally Death From Above 1979) Put Royal Blood to shame, that’s all I’ll say
Fenech-Soler, described as a poor mans Friendly Fires by some but seeing as they’ve disappeared I think that’s unfair, great band in their own right
The Kills, been around for ages now but rarely acknowledged for being a great band (doubt act) with Alison Mosshart also a great front woman. They aren’t afraid to change their sound either..

Here me out, The DARKNESS ..... a little bit of poodle rock that’s been polished up, get yourself ‘permission to land’ a great album.... put it on nice and loud, can’t go wrong . A very under rated band
