I think its very worrying that we haven't even managed to come close to getting anyone on board for next season, especially considering the problems we had with injury last season and our horrendous run at the end of last season. Add to that the number of key areas we are light in, such as central midfield, at the back and out wide. Ok, so we have the euros this year, but a lot of the people we have been linked with (such as Redmond) haven't even gone to the euros. Anyone else getting nervy?

Hardly anybody has signed anybody.
We always have panicky Petes jittery because we haven't signed half a dozen within 10 seconds of the final whistle in May.

These things always take longer when their is an international tournament on.
Scholes has said the other day they're looking to strengthen, sit tight - they'll come!

Cripes a mighty
its not even first of July Yet - where the players contracts run up to and, from
and the European championships are on too
SO
I'll use this quip again
'Ive got a yoghurt in my fridge one day over its expiry date, Im more worried about than a 'lack' of signings
by Stoke City this summer '
another factor
we are shitting money presently - literally - 29th richest club in the world apparently, means -we can now afford to pick and choose rather than - rush round in a desparate panic, rummaging in the 'dented tins and damaged goods' aisles in the supermarket
players will come - players will go -thats the reality now

To the OP and a fellow stokie. It is way too early to get worried mate. All will be well. One thing the last few years have taught me...the board we have in place now have took us to where we are. Yes we signed some that haven't worked out but im the whole it's been progress, progress, progress. Loads of time yet dude. Patience.

I am terrified about next season, if we don't get players in soon we will be relegated and possibly relegated again the season after. Thinking about it, I'm now worried about the prospect of having to play the Vale in a couple of years time.

I suspect the top players are too distracted by the Euros and Copa America to think about changing teams. The flood gates will open in a couple of weeks. As stated on another thread, the flow of players into England could be reversed if the pound continues to plummet.

Looking positively, it could be a sign of the quality of your scouting team. Like Leicester, they are probably in the process of thorough examinations of whether each potential signing would suit Stoke, in accordance to what Hughes and the management team are looking for and in what areas. Our scouts tend to examine attitude, quality and attributes to a great level of detail, to then help them decide if those particular players can bring something to the team. It's always best to wait and get the right player. I've been impressed as a LCFC fan with the quality of players Stoke have bought in, in recent years. Bojan, Arnautovic, Wollscheid, Johnson, Butland for examples.

Oh to get back to the days when we signed our players inthe final hour of the window.
No thanks our present policy appears to target players who we have scouted and researched. We seem to have an A list and an A list, dont get one of our top choices dont sign a B list alternative.
Very happy with how we are conducting our business
Pizza anyone?

You're right to be worried.
Kilmarnock have signed 11 players in one day! Thats what it should all be about at this time of year...

The problem is the transfer window is too long.
Just have it in June and July that's enough. Or even just June so every squad is sorted for preseason.
Dragging once the season has started is rubbish.
