We were slowly losing our cool, dropping deeper & deeper with Bojan in the second half giving West Ham too much room in front of our box & he came in & livened it up again & pushed us a good 10-12 yards up the pitch. Keep him here next season at all costs Sparky.

No way. I like Adam and his assist today but we looked terrific with the Shawcross Imbula Bojan spine at the start of the second half. Imbula's change in performance made a far larger difference.

I agree. Why people want rid of Charles is beyond me. He makes things happen.

Love the guy and the way he drives us forward. I wouldn't have him starting but we need him on the bench.

At the start of the second half yes but i think the point the op is making is that as the half wore on bojan was offering nothing in terms of driving us forward and we were getting pulled deeper and west ham were taking control again. For once sparky made the right sub at exactly the right time. If you're starting to sit deeper and deeper then Adam is THE player to get us moving forward again. Keeping him is a no brainer for me.

Agreed it was a rare good sub. Just don't agree with suggestions that he turned the game around on his own. The wheels were in motion, and he played a part.

He can be a genius. If you watch the corner again he looks straight at Diouf and draws out where he's going to float the ball to - as opposed to him whipping it in like he normally does - before West Ham can get organised.

Have to agree. Charlie instantly makes us more direct - exactly what we need. Hope he gets hi head down pre-season and we can get on more decent season from him.

He is the only player who changes games. No-one else in our squad has that in their locker.
Plus, he can take a decent corner and free kick. He kicks ass!

We were just saying that it was amazing that Charlie can ping a 60 yard shot to within 6 inches but he can't put a corner within 6 yards of his target when he planted that one on Diouf's head. With the long term injuries to Afellay and Ireland I think Charlie still has an important part to play. It really boils down to whether he is prepared to be a squad player or whether at his age he wants regular first team football.

He's a player who grabs the game by the balls and loves to look and drive forward with it. Not often is he negative and looks to pass backwards than forward.
Great in games like this.

He did really well and I'm amazed he did not start the game after doing so well in the past two games where he was one of our best players , if he isn't staying we need a player who drives forward the way he does

Adam's the type of guy who'll win you a game and then just may as well not be on the pitch the next fixture. He's definitely valuable to us, but a younger, more consistent player is required in the long term.

I'm not sure what you saw in Bojan to be honest , yes he had a decent spell at the star tof the second half but soon faded and was woeful in the first half , he is a shadow of his former self still as far as I can see

charlie has deserved more game time than Hughes and pullis gave him Charlie played pretty much every single minute of every single game in October & November & the latter part of September, when he came back from his suspension. He was dropped in December when we chose to go false 9 but we still played him in cup games & he also came on from the bench in most of those games. He got injured in Jan & then came back & started the previous 2 games & today he came on from the bench. When he's available for selection he almost always gets a sniff of the action. I don't know what you're complaining about.

I think the issue we saw yesterday again comes down partly to team selection. The team Hughes put out was very attacking, and would have been fine against a team who set up shop and allowed us to run at them and try and break them down. Unfortunately West Ham came flying at us, and with Bojan and Imbula on the field, we didn't have enough defensive cover to help Glen out in front of the back 4 and we lost control of the center of the park. Once we scored, that rocked West Hams confidence and they sat back more, and we immediately started to boss the game for a good 10 minutes. Unfortunately after they weathered the storm, they started to attack and put us on the back foot again. Charlies arrival definitely put some much needed steel into midfield and allowed us to push forward.

Adam was excellent. Full of energy and drove us forward, decent crosses from dead balls as well which was a nice change.....
