SkyBet: 11-10 Frank de Boer 9-4 Ronald Koeman 10-1 Manuel Pellegrini 10-1 David Moyes 12-1 Mark Hughes ... 50-1 Tony Pulis May I add, like I usually do for this sort of stuff, that these sort of markets mean very little as the odds are so volatile. Last night Hughes was 5-1 2nd fav and De Boer was odds on.

Mark Hughes: "I'm one of the more experienced managers in the Premier League so maybe it isn't surprising to see my name up there, but I'm more than happy here and am looking forward to next season. We've a lot of good things going on and my job certainly isn't finished."

I think Pellegrini would be a great appointment for Everton. He did an excellent job at Man City before he was undermined by the Guardiola announcement. He's got an impressive record with smaller clubs in Spain.

If you see his press conference around 5 and a half minutes in it all makes sense. Feel a lot more relaxed having watched it.

My mate is a Toffees ST holder. He doesnt think the fans would be on his side from the off. They think that he is weak defencively and poor and at set pieces, and plays tikka takka too much - just like Martinez! They're wrong there then - we haven't played that tiki taka stuff for 12-18 months to my thoughts. The rest might have a grain of truth judging by recent events, but the defence point has been caused by the loss of Shawcross and Butland - no more, no less.

Agreed - only ever really one way of playing and can't motivate by the look of this season.

There is so much against this it's barely worth considering - 1.Everton fans absolutely don't want him. He doesn't match their lofty opinions of their club. 2. This bigger club stuff is so out of date it's untrue - their financial resources are no greater than ours ( new shareholder - so what, I doubt he can or is going to invest any more than the Coates family) and the fact that they play in front of 10,000 or so more people isn't going to be that much of a thrill for any right thinking manager. Fundamentally if Hughes were to take the job on he would just be putting himself in the firing line with little or no more chance of success than he has here. So basically Hughes is plan X,Y, or Z for his potential employers and is taking on a proven thankless task. If does get offered it and he did take it frankly we would be better off without him because his thinking would shown to be seriously flawed. Well I've always been in his corner. I'd advocated his appointment as much as two years before we actually appointed him and he's been mainly everything I thought he would be. Saying that I think his thinking has been very flawed this season, I hope he can sort the squad out to his satisfaction in the Summer and show consistency of thought next season but I can't say I'm not worried. As a former striker he must know they thrive on confidence and I don't see how his selection of the striker this season has instilled confidence in any of them. Yes he's been unlucky with injuries but not in this department, he's simply been a victim of his own muddled thinking which I for one can't wait for him to emerge from. Nobody wants players to be allowed to be complacent but the level of chopping and changing this season has been ridiculous and must have been counter productive.

Seems a weird link , seems almost a doppleganger for Roberto , been hearing criticism about a lack of work on attacking and defending set pieces and over reliance on the passing game all day so why go for a bloke with the same philosophy ?

Reading his other quotes he seems almost disappointed to not be being considered, only then to come out with the happy here line and unfinished business. I'm probably reading to much into it. He's staying at any rate so I'm ok with that.

Our defence is heroic, impregnable and text book. Any Everton officials reading this would be daft not to have him as number 1 target imho

Seems a bit like the scouse mafia have convinced the media any manager would be happy to join.
Unless they've got hundreds of millions to spend then I can't see why Hughes would want to leave a club where top half is considered a good season for one where regularly finishing top 7 leads to you being booed like Moyes. A club that is so deluded that they are shocked when a player would rather go to a team that finished above them last season on a permanent deal than join them on loan.
And if they do have that kind of money, then why chase Hughes?
