Media think so. Not sure myself.
Andy Gray was pushing Sparky big time on TalkSport earlier.
A year ago I would have been dead against it, not so sure now to be honest.

I don't see it.
He's just not a big enough name. They'll be looking for a feelgood appointment.
From their perspective Hughes would've been pretty underwhelming even before our season went tits up.

Not amongst the front runners, apparently. Despite the current dip in form, I would like to him to stay at Stoke and see what he can achieve given a fully fit squad and replacements where needed this summer.

My mate is a Toffees ST holder. He doesnt think the fans would be on his side from the off. They think that he is weak defencively and poor and at set pieces, and plays tikka takka too much - just like Martinez!

I doubt it, I hope he wants to stay as I think he can achieve a lot with us - he's building a great squad and despite recent results we still have the best team we've had in my lifetime. However, if he wants to go then I wouldn't stop him. If he was to go then I'd hope we'd be in for Rafa.

I've just heard that bookies feel that Koeman is the front runner, which would be a slightly strange move for him - another good year at Southampton and he'd have a shot at Arsenal, you'd think. But if Koeman did move then that leaves Southampton without a manager, yet another another ex-club of Mark Hughes.

Richard Keys has said that Hughes would be the perfect replacement for Martinez. This hasn't gone down well with the fans on Twitter with some suggesting it's a step backwards. They all want De Boer . I doubt the board would antagonise the fans by appointing Hughes, as if he failed questions would no doubt be asked by the fans of the competency of the board. My money would be on appeasing the fans rightly or wrongly with De Boer.

I don't want him to leave, but if he did, who would you want to replace him? How about the bloke who's just quit Ajax?

I don't care if he's offered the job
I'm more interested in his decision
If he wants to take the Everton then I'd be happy, as it would show that his heart was not in it for the upcoming season so, best gone and a new dawn awaits.
Also, if he turned and said immediately, I'm flattered about the offer from Everton but, I have a job to do here at Stoke and I want to finish it. That would give our team, fans the lift that is needed after such a shit end to an otherwise decent season

Mark Hughes has never won anything, that's what may prevent him landing a bigger job. Martinez got the Everton job on the back of the F.A.Cup final win despite taking Wigan down.

Just because Everton think they are a bigger club than Stoke doesn't mean they are...not anymore. Hughes has got a great Chairman who backs him and he won't get better jumping ship. He is intelligent enough to know he has as much chance of success at Stoke as at Everton.

I just heard Andy Gray talking about Sparky as well. He was quite apologetic to Stoke, but was saying he's be the perfect appointment. I can't see how Sparky would be perfect for Everton to be honest but It's going to come down to money of course. Sparky is the 2nd lowest paid PL manager this season at Stoke.

He's obviously on the list, how far up or down I'm not sure. I honestly think he'd turn it down anyway.

So Qatar-based chums Keysie and Graysie are really SMASHING IT in touting Hughesie for the Everton job. Odd.
No chance.

Strange that K&G have really gone in hard for him. Don't think Hughes is part of their little clique of chumps they invite out for jollies to the Gulf.
They'll want a popular appointment so the new regime don't start off on the back foot. Rightly or wrongly, Hughes isn't that. He seems to be behind the Dutch duo anyway.

It would make more sense to me than de Boer. He's got an excellent record at Ajax but Steve Maclaren won a Dutch title and it would seem a bit Celtic and Rangers again over there, just spin the coin and any chimp could get Ajax or PSV the title. I can't say I'd have even the laziest of lobs if de Boer was linked with us.

I would be shocked. He's got a similar club in Stoke that can match anything Everton can do.
They have a more successful background than us but, they are not a bigger club than Stoke in 2016.
Be interesting to see what De Boer could do in England although I have my doubts. Steven McClaren was an amazing manager in Holland so if you're using him as a measuring stick, De Boer hasn't done anything too great. We'll see though.
Koeman would be a brilliant appointment.

Don't want to see him go. Don't think he will. With both Koeman and FdB doing the front running what Andy Gray says is by and large more guesswork. Yes MH is being bandied about but with the backing of the Coates family and what appears to be a decent working relationship he'd be making a retrograde step to be honest.

My point was that, in this day, Stoke can compete with Everton.

Rather than put it in terms of bigger/smaller, if you ask "which club can he achieve more with in the next 3 years?", I think it is close, especially when you factor in intangible stuff like 'loyalty' to Coates and his comfort here.
Although the indications are that Koeman would leave SOuthampton for them, so maybe their pull is bigger than I thought.
If they had a 60,000 stadium, I think they'd definitely be perceived very differently.
I think it's a moot point though. Those flurry of reports about a fortnight ago from national journos do indicate he's on the long-list, but you'd think ultimately they'd go with someone who the fans wanted so they don't start behind the eight ball

The only way I see Everton trying to get Hughes is if they fail to land other targets.
I couldn't actually see Hughes leaving though, especially if he's had assurances from the Stoke board that there will be money to spend in the summer, which I think there will be.
