Hughes didn't take over a side that was solid and hard to beat. Harder than the last 2 months, even if you lose you don't have to rollover. This Stoke side has no backbone,if we go a goal behind on Sunday let's see how much fight they put in. He didn't take over a solid side that was hard to beat though did he?

Of course momo you are correct, I'm simply responding though to some of the comments on this board which seek to portray Martinez as a management failure who shouldn't be employed by sensible Chairman, do those sort of comments ring a bell? Certainly see what you’re saying Geoff and I wouldn’t be exactly shocked if someone took a chance on him but it’s hard to see who it would be. No one would touch him if there was a genuine hint of relegation, it would be insanity. He’s way too damaged for a top 6 or 7 job which gives him a very small window of possibilities in the top division. There are vague similarities between the job he did following Moyes as Hughes has done following Pulis but I just can’t see anyone thinking it will be a viable risk. Fair or not he’s going to have go further down the chain or overseas to start rebuilding his reputation again.

Richard Keys has said that Hughes would be the perfect replacement for Martinez. This hasn't gone down well with the fans on Twitter with some suggesting it's a step backwards. They all want De Boer . I doubt the board would antagonise the fans by appointing Hughes, as if he failed questions would no doubt be asked by the fans of the competency of the board. My money would be on appeasing the fans rightly or wrongly with De Boer.

Guardian reporting they are targeting Koeman, but why he'd leave a progressive club like the Saints to move to Everton is somewhat open to question (the money on offer might be key - Martinez was on 3million a year FFS! god knows what they'd give a decent manager)

He said when he got the job he'd deliver them Champions League football and yet he's finished mid-table in his last two seasons and managed to take them backwards despite having a top, top striker in Lukaku with a decent supporting cast including Barkley etc.
Fully deserves the sack in my opinion, the way he uses words like 'phenomenal' to describe things that are average is also really, really annoying.

I think it means he has the highest sole percentage stake. Like everyone else may have like 10-20% but he has 49.9%.
