What type of striker do we require? A nippy, clinical type or a big bruiser like Benteke or Bony?
Do we need one of each? Who floats your boat and who would leave you underwhelmed?

Can we not have one with all 3 qualities?
I honestly don't give a shit how they do it, I just want a striker that scores goals.

Bony? Benteke? If those are our primary targets, I'd rather just stick with Walters & Diouf.

Benteke is crying out for a move to a club like Stoke. Arnie on one wing, Shaq or Redmond/ Townsend on the other with Bojan no 10. What a tasty forward like....

But seriously we should be looking for one of the following -
Niang (Milan) - He should be #1 priority. Alexandre Lacazette (Lyon) - Although it's going to be insanely hard to lure him to Stoke, he has made it quite clear we wants out in the summer. Andre Gray (Burnley) Peter Olayinka (KAA Gent) Paul-Georges Ntep (Stade Rennais) Andy Carroll (West Ham) Islam Slimani (Sporting Clube de Portugal)
No point in gambling for money here. The striker with a killer instinct is what we've been lacking for a long time. If we sign one of the above, I wouldn't be too disappointed if we don't sign anyone else in the summer.
Btw just so you know we have absolutely no chance of signing Batshuyai or Zaza with the clubs that're circling them at the moment.

Unless he's willing to accept a significant cut in his weekly salary (I'm talking about 50% here), he's not even an option.

Would of loved Gray to be the one but with Burnley's promotion his value just trebled - likely would need offer 25m+ to get him and my ideal CB new boy, Keane, to Stoke (likely 15m min for Gray, 10m for Keane). Our only lever for them is likely we can offer big wages compared to Burnley but I very much doubt we are the only ones sniffing around their squad. Lacazette is a wet dream but we'd need to break 100k/wk to get his agent's attention I'd guess so perhaps not

At the moment, he's on the same wage as Diouf except this guy is putting in 20+ goals a season. Hughes has a knack for convincing big players to join Stoke so I wouldn't be surprised if he pulled off another miracle. It's highly unlikely though I'll give you that.

Nippy clinical would be a personal preference. Insomuch it would just add that extra string to the attack. Vardy has proven that you don't have to be Maradona to stick the ball away. Back to the raw pace aspect again. Even someone in the Aguero style would work. Ball -feet route one. They don't come ten a penny unfortunately.

I'm not an avid follower of European football so the only 2 names that I recognise are Gray & Carroll, and to be honest we do not stand a chance of either. Gray will inevitably want to stay with Burnley, and see if he can cut it in the Prem with a team that he knows, and Burnley will inevitably slap a huge price on him to deter and potential suitors, and Carroll...Nah...Too injury prone, his price would be huge, as West Ham will want to recoup some of their huge investment, and his wages would be too high and cause resentment in the camp... So for that reason (s) I'm out...

You're easily satisfied, cp.
Would love your optimism that one preferred striker would do. No chance of injuries, then? Where've you been this past eighteen months is so?

Mobile target man for one. Rapid pace for another. Versatile forward for the third.
So new forward, Diouf, Joselu.
Of course all three will still be behind Crouch and Walters in the pecking order.

If Carrol could stay fit he'd be perfect if not someone quick and strong. Looks like we've lost out on Bats who's on west hams radar.

Simone ZAZA has all the qualities one could desire in a striker
Plus he's a winner, a leader, someone who could really take us to the next level

It is interesting that we can't decide what kind of forward we need. The players we have who have played as the central forward are all completely different in style: Diouf, Joselu, Walters, Crouch, Bojan. It's difficult to imagine five such different players, in fact. Hughes clearly has no idea how he wants to set the team up so he swaps the forwards about almost week by week. There's no point in signing any more until a settled team pattern and style is chosen.

Wells at Huddersfield is being linked to Southampton according to the Bermuda press. Small and very mobile, top scorer for 2 seasons in a row. Shit at pens though

Persevere with Joselu. Seriously, work with him in close season and instill the values that are required!! I think Jos will stay and Diouf will go so not buying a new frontline striker is extremely unlikely. And I'd personally dispense with Crouch over the Summer with our thanks and best wishes. I fail to see the point in keeping him on. This could leave us an option to buy a young, lower division striker who has potential...there are one or two and if our youngsters haven't got it then we need to bring one in.

If we are not going to put decent balls into the box for a Ritchie type striker, then we need one who can create a lot of his own chances, someone like Defoe.

I reckon Jordan Ayew would be a big hit here ... but whoever joins the whole team needs to play with way more passion and energy
There is a saying ... success is doing your best in your own eyes ... and sparky's biggest challenge is to get all 11 players walking off knowing they've given their best at the end of the game
If he can do that and get in an Ayew or Defoe type player , the team can do a lot better than its doing now .

I like Ayew, too. He pretty quick, direct and hard working. I think he'd fit in great here, in a similar role to Odemwingie's when he first came.

Shit at pens though It would certainly increase our exposure over here if we signed Nakhi (as well as sell a few shirts!), like when we had Lightbourne (who, incidentally, has just managed his local club to an FA Cup win!).
