Martin Carruthers used to wear odd boots.
Well, one boot and some Toblerone packaging.

It's just a colour(s), why does it upset you so much?

It's just a colour(s), why does it upset you so much? Then let's change our home strip to blue and green hoops next season - or better still white shirts and black shorts. They're just colours after all.....

I remember the days when only the outstanding players wore coloured boots and the "standard" player wore black.
Very much the other way round now.
Personally, give me a pair of Coppa Mondial's every day of the week.

Assuming these guys? are making some sort of personal statement 'look at me' 'wow my feet are good' 'does my arse look big in these', etc should we not let them parade their idiocy for all to see and revel in the fact that certain individuals will still be unable to hit the arse of a donkey from no paces whatever colour their bloody feet are. As for Fabricated, how long have you got.

Martin Carruthers used to wear odd boots. Well, one boot and some Toberlone packaging. This is true - the first bit. He wore his left boot on his right foot and the right boot on his left foot. It's such a shame no one picked up on this. His career could have been so different.

Players have NO say in the colours what so ever. They sign a boot deal with a brand, and a line of there brand and the company supply them with as many pairs as they want of that certain boot.

So what if players want to wear pink boots? My point is that we can be very selecive when it comes to tradition. Almost everyone is wedded to the tradition of their team's strip(s). Less so with other aspects. Personally I like my football traditional. Shirts should be numbered 1-11, half way lines should have flags on them, the European Cup should be a knockout competition from round 1, the FA cup should have replyas right up to and including the final and players should wear BLACK boots.

Slaves they are - SLAVES!! They can choose what to wear if they buy them themselves rather than prostitute out every last inch of their tatooed asses.

Why buy them for yourselves when you can earn thousands from wearing a certain brand and get free clothes in the process? fair play I say. Goalkeepers even have sponsors for the gloves!

Back in the 'Golden Years', didn't Stan Bowles (or someone of that ilk?) play a game wearing one Adidas boot and one Puma or Gola boot in order to pick up the sponsorship money from both companies (which he doubtless then put on a horse!!!)?
My junior school's footy kit was the 60's/70's Everton strip. My mate Alan Warwick bought white Hummel boots cos he had ginger hair and, therefore, looked like Alan Ball. We're all 55 'ish now, and he still gets dog's abuse for those boots

I'd whore myself for half a dozen free pairs of my favourite trousers and a spare pair of my fave boots and trainers, so I can't talk but yeah, modern footballer WHORES!

Why would any athlete in the world not sign with a sports designer to wear their merchandise for millions if they could? For what it's worth I was being contrarian for the purposes of the debate - I couldn't care less about the colour of boots. HOWEVER - I strongly suspect that the majority of footballers do NOT get paid millions for wearing a certian brand of boot. Not sure the value to Nike of signing up Dean Whitehead or Dionatan Texiera. And the ones the can command millions could probably deictate their terms - not sure Adidas would turn Ronaldo or Messi down simply because they insisted on black boots. AND through out all if this the individual always has a choice of they want one.
