outstanding tonight. Could see half the PL refs messing up in a big way. Both clubs should be fined for there conduct tonight. A weaker ref would have crumbled.

He's now the county's best ref Has been for quite a while. When you consider that the FA consider Atkinson to be their best ref.

He bottled it letting all those tackles go unpunished and then he lost control realising those same players were now getting yellow cards rather than the reds they should of been getting

Always tries to let the game flow, just a shame for him he was trying to control a bunch of spoilt kids on that pitch tonight. Some of them really need to grow up but doubt they will.

For two "big" teams some of that was just pathetic and cowardly and both deserve some hefty bans and fines but wow it was good to watch !

Did a good job - didn't get caught up in all the hysterics. The aim is not to send off as many players as you can , the aim is to produce a good game which he helped to do.

If he refereed it to the ref code the game wouldn't have finished as it'd be 7 versus 6. The most important thing was that he kept calm throughout and wasn't intimidated.

But if we want consistency every game should be reffed the same wether it's Chelsea v Tottenham or Northampton v Barnet Players should of been booked from the off and he wouldn't of lost control Yeah ?

Players will have been sent off this weekend for less than that Like I say if it's the sort of consistency that sees players getting booked and sent off for the sort of feeble innocuous stuff that people scream about nowadays then absolutely not. Would much rather see someone run the game well and set a standard that others can perhaps aspire to and become consistently good.

What a load of bollocks he bottled it big time shoukd have given at least 3 red cards, disgraceful display Absolute Rubbish....Good refs try to keep players on the pitch. The game was so great BECAUSE it was 11 v 11 thats what crowds want to see. Footballers are men, and should be treated like men Too many red cards in football. Spoiling the game. You can't send players everytime they shove & push it each other, its ridiculous. The passion in the game was fantastic to see. Outstanding performance from the Ref. It will go down as a great game and the Ref contributed to it.

Chelsea Spurs with the title on the line is a totally different kettle of fish to Northampton and Barnet. Clattenburg MANAGED the game well in very very trying circumstances.

I don't care who is playing. I want 11 v 11 and red cards as a last resort. The lack of consistency lies with the Refs who can't man manage, talk to players who can't handle a bit of pushing and shoving which has been part of the game since it began. Spurs lost it big time, and they will punished for that no doubt. But even John Terry said after the game that he hoped common sense prevails and the FA don't go banning players. All this retrospective banning is ludicrous. Most of it is handbags.

And I fully agree But do you honesty think the same ref would manage a Norwich v watford game like that ?.....he'd be sending players off left and right and then they would suffer suspensions that would hit them hard etc etc That's my point

But tonight is how a game should be officiated imho. Tonight was exceptional though in the sense that for the last 10 minutes Spurs completely lost the plot as they realised there Premiership dreams had just been snatched away in very dramatic circumstances.

He should have booked Ivanovic for a very poor tackle very early in the game, by not doing so he basically told the players that they could get away with virtually anything.
Very, very poor performance from the referee.

Proper local derby game. All that could have been added was Stigger Foley in there somewhere to break Fabregas's legs. OS.

Brilliant performance from the referee. Outstanding understanding of the game and its importance in footballing history. Never once tried to be the centre of attention and did literally everything to keep it eleven a side. Mr. Clattenburg take a bow!
