What I wouldn't give for us to sign him in the summer. A fabulous defender & a leader in the dressing room. Him & Ryan together would be the best centre back partnership in the league. No chance in hell Swansea will sell their captain but that's the sort of player we need to be looking for , not fucking Bartra ...

He strikes me as one of those who you love when he's on your side and hate him if not. I agree, he should be the type of defender we should be after.

I really rate him and would take him. Only concern is his age.

I'd take Dann as first choice then Williams as second, if it was possible I'd sign them both. I agree about Bartra, lets get some solidarity never mind fucking around with nice 'footballers', especially in midfield and defence

What is the point of having a leader who goes into battles leading but generally losing? Did you watch him play at the Brittania recently? He does not impress me as a player we would want other than a back up. Stoke need two new quality centre halves who are better than what we already have and Ashley Williams does not fulfil that criteria.

Grant Hanley from Blackburn.
British. A leader. Premiership experience. Still young. No-nonsense center half.

He looks like an absolute carthorse of a player but he does get the defending done.
Not sure he would tick the Hughes 'ball playing defender' box though if Bob Huth didn't.
Oh, and presumably there is the small matter of he's not for sale and why would he prefer us to Swansea.

With the amount of money floating around the league, it will cost an absolute bomb to sign any club's star player.
Even if they are if their contract ends soon, a big fee is likely. Even more likely, is many of the big boys will come sniffing.
People like Ashley Williams would either be a mid-table clubs main transfer target, or 1 of the big clubs for a backup who is homegrown as well.
Not a chance. But someone like him? Yes please.
