Really frustrated with it. I know there is an argument that with modern pitches and boots if your foot is planted too much then the ligaments go, but some of the slips you see look dangerous in their own right and could quite easily pop a ligament or tear a muscle. Go back to the older boots with four studs at the front and two at the back.....can't be any worse than these daft blade/trainer things they wear. And while we are at it, let's have proper leather caseys to kick and head as well.????

You've touched on it with the modern pitch part. The surface (and that's all it is) is not too dissimilar to an artificial one only it's grass, if that makes sense. It's the same almost as grabbing a few rolls of turf for the back lawn only on a grander scale obviously. It isn't really 'rooted' in the truest sense, hence the water is needed both as a drink for shallow roots and a lubricant on top. Came across all this when looking into the replacement surface for a Hockey club who wanted the best of both worlds. Ended up with Astro but that's not the point. There's a shock absorber type of underlay but you get what you pay for as I discovered.
Fucking expensive whichever way you look at it. Just personal experience, I'm no authority on the subject.

It's those fancy dan boots they wear look at the pitches in the 70s they were like mud baths but players wore proper boots with proper studs not these fancy dan blades etc

Boot suppliers and advertising deals. I agree with a 6 stud arrangement but they move the goalposts (no pun) to pointless change for change sake

The thing is we didn't water the pitch at half time yesterday. Gouranga. There was no need after the thorough oiling that it had been given prior to kick off.

Surely the point is that the state of the pitch, and the weather, is the same for both sides, yet it seems to be mainly OUR players who slip over!?

I didn't watch the Swansea v LPool game yesterday but apparently the Scouse were suffering from their same problem. it sounds like a boot sponsorship issue. I wonder if this could also contribute to all the injuries we have suffered this season.

Get some proper studs in the multicoloured Lycra blade electronic power slide extreme boots ? I cant remember falling/ slipping over with my old screw in studded boots back in 1983 on a Saturday or Sunday £8 from Woolworths at Big shops Bentilee.
