Oh good, our weekly Radio Stoke is wank thread. I've got a novel idea. If it's that shit don't listen to it. Piece of piss. Similarly, if you don't like threads about Radio Stoke, don't post on 'em...

What confuses me is that every week we have folks on here saying they'll never listen to it again...then the week after come on moaning about the latest edition of P&G They probably don't talk about us because as far as they've read, ever Stoke fan stopped listening to them about 2 years ago anyway Mick I put it on to listen about the biggest club in the area after I've watched/been to the game and also to listen to what Sparky has to say but instead tonight I got 15 minutes worth of 2 fans of lower league clubs from the area who this station for reason believe people are interested in.Then for some bizzare reason they play a pre match interview with Ranieri talking about his team Leicester,WHY?Its easy to switch to another station but why WTF should people do this? The sports coverage is a disgrace and it needs sorting out ASAP Sorry mate was being facetious. To be honest i agree with you and haven't listened to it for aaaages for the same reasons.

Jon Acres was and is not a Stoke City fan. He was and is a good football commentator though. (Plymouth fan, btw) Not saying that Akers was a Stoke FAN, but that he was a Stoke supporter in his role as a commentator, something that we could at least expect from someone covering football in the Potteries. His match commentating was first class, and his analysis was excellent, and he wasn't side tracked into excessive coverage of the other two teams, Crewe in particular, who don't warrant any coverage by Radio Stoke.

You couldn't make up what went on yesterday. Thousands of Stoke fans on their way home and we get that shit served up. Don't know what went on later. I turned the radio on, heard that it was McGarry and his beloved Crewe on, so switched it off and had a moan to myself about Cameron being an idiot and giving that penno away in the 94th minute. OS.

Its another example that sums up Stoke on Trent in some ways
i.e. offered and accepting a very poor 'hospital radio' style local radio station, for such a large urban connurbation
in truth - amatuerish and 'smalltown' ( thesedays anyways)
Stoke on Trent deserves bigger and better
ps FAR TOO MUCH EMPHASIS PLACED UPON OUTLYING REGIONS AND CLUBS OF LITTLE CONSEQUENCE OR INTEREST TO THE BROADER FOOTBALLING SPORTS FANS TOO

Felt compelled to comment on this. Whilst studying journalism i had a weeks work experience with radio Stoke on the week coming up to the opening game of the 2002/03 season away at Sheffield Wednesday. Graham McGarry's primary interest was the racing post not the new season and Stoke's new manager Steve Cotterill. I took a call from an irate Steve Cotterill about that we knew the starting line - up and we shouldn't reveal it and he wanted to speak to McGarry. McGarry wouldn't to speak to him because he was on his lunch break. He had no interest in Stoke City in my opinion. On the same day i took another call this time from 5live wanting McGarry to do a live piece on their station about Stoke's return to the Championship and the Icelandic ownership. He again refused because he was 'busy'. Our club rarely promotes itself and when given the opportunity people like McGarry have no interest in doing so. It might seem a chore to them, but we need passionate, balanced critical thinking journalists who represent the fans interests at heart

I don't think anyone has ever been in any doubt as to how much of a cock Mcgarry is (and always has been) but it's nice to have it confirmed. He must have some incriminating evidence on some fucker, it's the only explanation that makes any sense.

He also gave me the task of writing Stoke's line up for the 6pm sports news. He was too busy with Crewe Here's hoping they get relegated again next season, even that dickhead would have trouble justifying the air time for a non-league side. Assuming they haven't closed Radio Stoke down by then - can't be far off.

606 was even worse. Two games involving teams in the relegation battle and who's the first caller they take? A Shit fan from Cornwall! Heard that as well. No comment.

Haven't listened to that bundle of drivel for ages. It surprises me that this sort of nonsense goes on still, I guess it entertains someone. Surely this sort of rubbish station can't survive in the age of Internet streaming. How much traffic and travel do you want to listen to in one day?
