Bachmann actually has more professional experience than Haugaard, having had a couple of successful loan spells. I'm sad that GIven is out for the season but having Bachmann on the bench doesn't worry me.

Given is clearly injury prone. I'd like to think well get a new 3rd choice next season

This little spell could be the absolute making of Haugaard in which case we have a genuine resource for the future so I'm happy enough - Given isn't going to be here much longer so let's get on with it and give the youngster some unqualified support.

Haugaard has proven he's just not good enough. Give Bachmann a chance.

Was it just a 12 month contract for Shay?
At his age, he is bound to see alot of the treatment table!

Haugaard has proven he's just not good enough. Give Bachmann a chance. After a handful of games? Asmir shipped 5-6 on his debut in a 7-0 vs Chelsea (I'll try that again). Butland shipped 5 on his premier league debut vs Liverpool. He'll need time, it's not an ideal situation but we shouldn't be chopping and changing keepers every game.

Shit for Shay. Can't be much left in the tank for him. Always liked him as a keeper but if we were going to sign another old keeper I don't see why we didn't keep Tommy on.
Saturday's gong to be no fun at all having a twitchy arse every time Sunderland get near the back line. Fuck this season.

I'm sad that GIven is out for the season but having Bachmann on the bench doesn't worry me. In this country he does but he's only played 24 professional league games, 15 of them in the Conference. Haugaard has 47 league games, mostly in the Danish top flight.

I know Haugaard needs to 'adjust' to the Prem but there can't be that much difference for a keeper in other leagues. I'm in no doubt the quality of Danish top flight strikers are nowhere near the English league but he has experience in controlling his box, shot stopping, crosses, etc. Give him time. We're safe anyway let's see what he can do when he settles. Remember he probably didn't expect much game time bar the league cup with us this season so to say he's been chucked in at the deep end is probably an understatement.

Was it just a 12 month contract for Shay? At his age, he is bound to see alot of the treatment table! He signed a 2 year contract to July 2017. The Sunday Times at the weekend said he was the first player over 40 to play for the Potters since Stanley Matthews. I am all for an experienced standby keeper but this fella is as old as the hills! I guess that is okay if the player is fit but poor old Shay seems to be coming apart at every nail

It's great to give younger players there chance , but if they come in and play well like Butland then it's one story and if they come in and play badly like Haugaard then its another

I obviously didn't see him play on loan but I do remember a number of Wrexham fans raving about him. I also noticed that Bury extended his loan so I presume they were content with his performances.

Bury replaced him with Paddy Kenny after about 3 appearances and he was sent back early from the Scottish club. Doesn't really fill you with confidence if he struggled at that level

Errr..... why the hand wringing over Haugaard? He was pretty good in the pre-season games and performed to such a standard that we were all happy with him as back-up. This has been overshadowed by Butland's massive improvement this season but I believe we have the goalkeeping coaching team to get Jakob back up to standard.

Haugaard has proven he's just not good enough. Give Bachmann a chance. Bloody Hell. Why don't we just line him up to be the next Wollscheid. Update our over-reacting meet the demands of the modern game by introducing a bit of squad rotation into our whipping boys. Hughes Out!!

Why didn't we bring in another two front line keepers in January, along with the 6 defenders we needed?

Wouldn't go that far me old mucker He's not good enough, his positional sense isn't where it should be - he's not going to be good enough. We're all entitled to our opinions, he's too flappy for me. I'd give Bachmann a go... Hughes well and truly IN!

Daniel Gyollai.
I'd imagine he'll back as third choice as Nantwich (where he was on loan) have appeared to have finished their season.
