I'm a harsh task master Harry I think when you went walkabout we devised a thread guaranteed to flush you out again . I think it was based on cricket , airplanes and the napoleonic wars . We planned to include lots of incorrect statements . Anyway what are you suggesting about those incorrect statements ?

Always liked the Panther, especially the G model (I have no idea why they decided not to identify variants of the Panther alphabetically, unlike all other German AFVs), which I think looks a bit better than the earlier versions. It was also less susceptible to random engine fires, which is always a bonus.

I was just wondering about the "ausführungen"; the first production model was the Ausf D, which was then followed by the Ausf A and finally the Ausf G. Had the war gone on for any longer, the up-gunned (88mm) Ausf F may have made an appearance. It just seems funny that unlike other German AFVs, such as the Pzkpfw iii, whose variants were named in alphabetical order (A to N), they broke convention with the Panther. Christ, I sound like a geek.

Here's the Donald Duck
Which manufacturer produced that? Is it a WWI or WWII tank? Excuse my ignorance, find it very interesting but am an utter dilettante in matters military, the only Donald Ducks i'd heard of were the amphibious Shermans: are they the DD'S you refer to in a later post re Omaha,or the one pictured?

American Civil War, WW1 and WW2, Spanish Civil War, Russian Civil War and the Allied Interventions are my main interests I suppose. Also odd South American conflicts.

And all earlier ones were classified in the same way .....the Panther was the first to be given a name as far as I know , followed of course by the Tiger .

That's the Matilda I that served in France 1940 mate. I seem to remember it was built to a strict budget but I'd have to check the manufacturer and I've no decent internet just now. If you look at it a certain way it looks like the disney character. The DD is a different kettle of hadware The Sherman Duplex Drive amphibious tank used by the Brits on D.Day.
