The FA have announced that the fixtures for 2016/17 season will be released on the 15th June. The season will begin on the 13th August and end on the 21st of May. Wonder if the board will be feeling less suicidal by then? Where did you get that date from, Dan ? The fixtures have always been in the past released on the same day, and I've had an email from the Football League saying that the release date is 22 June

I will ask our rep. on the fixtures working party why so. It's the first time I can recall this happening

The FSF has a representative on the fixtures working party which does what it says on the tin, including agreeing the release date. He tells me that at the last meeting the date was agreed as 22nd June including as usual the PL ( who sit on that working party). 15th June is complete news to him.

The FA official twitter page and website Malcolm. I can't locate it on either the FA website or their twitter feed. Have you got a link. See my post above. I'm wondering if this was an error by the FA which they have now removed. I'm a bit stumped by this one. I have now seen it on the official PL twitter feed from 3 days ago as 9am on 15/6 and it's still there. However, our man on FWP knows nothing about it and thinks that there are various good reasons why they co-ordinate it ( e.g pairing of clubs). If, for some reason which I can't fathom, the PL have unilaterally decided to bring theirs forward, this may not go down well with other agencies on the FWP. Also the FWP normally meets a couple of days before the release to have a final look at the fixtures just to make sure nothing obvious has been missed. All very odd.

I've now got to the bottom of this one. As I said, the FWP had agreed a date of 22 June. But the PL then wanted to release theirs earlier because they want to get as early a decision as possible on games moved for television, which from a fans perspective is obviously a good thing. Hence 15th June. But the FL couldn't agree to that because they felt it doesn't leave enough time between the play-off finals on the last weekend in May and the release date to do all the double checks for possible problems etc. So, they have decided to break with the previous practice of releasing both leagues together. All it means is that in the very small numbers of cases where a PL club are paired with a FL club ( we are one of course with the Vale), the FL club will know a week early which weekends they are home and away, but won't know who they are playing. Not a big deal. The FSF is pleased that the PL is trying to get the TV fixtures sorted as soon as possible.

Dunna fret it's Burnley away first game regardless I wouldn't mind that much if first game was away to Arse so we know we don't have to go again. But it would give you an open goal to start the season.

The biannual boasting about wanting England to fail. Unless you are Scottish it's bollox. Ain't that right Macmetalhead!! Why is it bollocks? I feel absolutely nothing for England nowadays. Successive failures, caused by spineless yes-men who are seemingly installed as puppets for the FA? You look at how Germany picked themselves up from their dark period (Euro 2004) and the way we've acted? Worlds apart mate, worlds apart. Germany will probably get to the semi's or the final. We will be lucky to get through the group stages. Sorry pal, but I won't be wrapping myself in the St George's flag, swearing allegiance to the Queen under a photo of Woy Hodgson. Of course, deep down, I'd like England to do well, but why would I ever get my hopes up, when the obvious problems can be seen from a mile off? Just because you have awarded yourself a moral obligation to support England no matter what, doesn't mean the rest of us have. I will watch England with the same kind of scepticism that I watched us in 2014, and we'll probably witness a similar performance.

Also it's a football team. I mean after the Wigan disaster and the Little disaster did people stop going? Or wanting them do well? Also the anti England from English people thing is a boasty dick measuring attention seeking thing....as you did when you brought it into this thread for no discernable reason.

Pretty sure it was you who brought England up. I just qualified your reply. I don't really get the whole boasty dick measuring comment. I don't specifically want England to do badly, I just don't care either way. I fully expect us to get battered though and as such, I'm at a point where I'm now looking forward to it, just so the media love-in can move on, Woy can fuck off, Greg can fuck off, and we can have the merry go-round which results in another failed tournament performance in 2 years time. Sorry for not being a true patriot like yourself mate.

When I started by miserably saying we would get beaten by Russia you indicated excitement at the prospect of England losing. That's boasty if ever it existed. It isn't indifferent it's excitement at the prospect of failure.

Actually, no I'll rephrase that, I actually do want to see England fail, hopefully catastrophically, because the reality is mate, we have absolutely no chance of winning the Euro's, or the World Cup, as it currently stands. When it happens, perhaps we can clear out the dinosaurs that are still running the show and start again eh? Another quarter final penalty loss will only result in more time wasted as we fuck around preparing for the World Cup. I would rather us lose in the group stage, clear out the crap, and then build a top team for World Cup 2018 and actually try and compete. Germany did it, and look at them nowadays. Actually, better not eh? Go bury your head in the sand.... or should I say the flag?
