I used to love the Streets album by Savatage and WASP saw them a few times at least once at the Viccy Hall probably the headless children tour, getting old when you read this January was the 30th anniversary of Skid Row Skid Row being released.... Yes it was the Headless Children tour back in 1989. I was there myself, my ears were buzzing for days after and I'm surprised I didn't end up in a neck brace! Do you remember these who supported?? Lol yes filed under should have stayed in the pub for another 40 minutes, strange as many years later I would get well into similar music like Nightwish, Delain, Trillium, Within Temptatation but just couldn't put up with them.... Used to get some good supports at the Viccy Hall saw FM supporting Magnum and Bon Jovi, White Sister I think supporting FM, Kingdom Come with Magnum but then there was also Heavy Pettin supporting Magnum......

Sorry Followyoudown but unfortunately White Sister pulled out of the gig with FM due to illness. Their place was taken by Stoke on Trent band No Favors with Tim Bedson on drums. Thought FM were one of the better support bands I have seen at Viccy Hall still go and watch them whenever I can. Another couple of support bands I enjoyed were Girl with Phil Lewis now of LA Guns and Phil Collen (Def Leppard) in their ranks and Marseille with Art Attacks Neil Buchanan on guitar.

I can take or leave Megadeth, saw their first uk show at Hammersmith and they were terrible ( had their gear impounded so were using rented and at least two of them were 7nder the influence) , seen them a few times since and way better but not a band I can get massively excited about. Love Mastodon these days

Love Mastodon these days Love 'Leviathan' and saw Mastadon a couple of times around then, rather hed crushingly good. But must admit I've heard nowt much by them since. I love the doomier side of metal, but in small doses, prefer watching/experiencing it live more than home stereo pleasure. I likes a bit of grind and stuff too, again infrequent listening at home. Did buy the album after seeing Closet Witch live though. Intense.

They’ve softened since Leviathan, more prog metal ( much as I hate to pigeon hole) but Crack The Sky is a killler record and the last one Emperor Of Sand isnt shabby either. Like them live, always have a great sound man . Maybe an age thing, but I go to less and less gigs now, Motörhead Rush gone, still follow Maiden and do multiple shows .

35 years on...(well, about a month ago). The album that changed guitar playing forever. There was before and there was simply after. Nobody wanted to be Eric Clapton or Jimmy Page anymore. A 20 year old Swedish head case changed the guitar playing world.... forever. A tortured genius, trapped in a mind full of demons, living a world where it seemingly doesn't belong.... Yngwie J Malmsteen. den sanna mästaren, introducerar Yngve Black Star Far Beyond The Sun Evil Eye (skip to 2:54 if you want to skip the build-up to the magic) 15 year old Jason Becker hammering Black Star. www.guitarplanet.eu/the-yngwie-malmsteen-problem.html

Well fuck yer, you're missing out Lol Mr Wylde is , regrettably , a bit of a pet hate of mine, remember seeing him at Town and Country club just after he’d replaced Jake E Lee, and I wasn’t a fan then and aren’t now. So, in the words of the Dragons, I’m out...! I am currently loving the new Mike Monroe song ( with guest appearance from Captain Sensible) “One Man Gang” , fast frenetic glammy punk, love it

Is anyone on here as old as me and remembers the time before the term "Heavy metal" was coined and when rock was called blues? Jimi Hendrix was a blues guitarist. The Rolling Stones played blues. The Yardbirds was a blues band - or had the term "rock" come into use by then? Back in the 60s, we had rhythmn and blues, but it wasn't what they call rhythmn and blues today. The names keep changing. I could do with a bit of advice on the history of how the terms used to describe music evolved, because in my novel I have characters discussing it and I wrote it purely from memory and I might have got it wrong. Fortunately it is an eBook not a paperback, so I can change it. Extract - "Nigel opened the compartment and rummaged through the contents looking for the mints. A few items made him smile. “Black Sabbath, Frijid Pink and Motorhead CDs Myriam? You don't strike me as a headbanger.” Myriam laughed, “I listen to some of it, but not a lot. It's my brother who likes heavy metal, he's a big fan. What about you? Do you like it?” “I'm a bit like you. I like some of it, but not all. I never tire of hearing 'Emerald' by Thin Lizzy." A bit later, they again get on to the subject of rock \ heavy metal [just to put this into context - Nigel is older than Myriam and worried about the age difference, and there had been a bit of a coincidence to do with geological rocks and rock music] - "Cream was a heavy rock group and the evening before, we had talked about heavy rock, and now I am following a new lead - rock. Is it just coincidence, or do you believe in mystical forces?” “I'm afraid I have to contradict you Nigel. Cream wasn't a heavy rock group, it was a progressive blues band.” “True, that's what they are classed as today. Now, I'm not old enough to remember the era Myriam,” Nigel stressed the point, “so to me it is history, but I know how, over time, the classifications have changed. My brother, who is older than I am, always called Cream a heavy rock group. He remembers when some of the music we now call rock was called blues, but things change. Before his time with Cream, Clapton was in The Yardbirds. Those two groups blurred the boundaries with their mix of blues and rock, and they are two good examples of how definitions, such as heavy rock, blues and progressive rock changed as the music evolved.” "Okay, I'll concede that point, but be rational Nigel. It was 'Layla' that was played, not 'Crossroads'. If it had been 'Crossroads', then I might have found it a little spooky, but it wasn't. You are stretching the facts to make it look like a connection. Sorry Nigel, I'd say it is just your imagination. All that reading must have left you dazed and confused.” " All advice gladly received. "The Perdix Project" by Teddy Tunstall It was priced at £4.99, but for a limited period it is on special offer at £1.99p. For less than the price of a pint, you can enjoy a few hours engrossed in an intriguing mystery with mind-expanding, sci-fi thought experiments, good, solid detective work and a James Bond-style action packed ending. You can read the whole of chapter one and a good bit of chapter two for free. See the "Look inside" link just above the photograph of the book cover - but they don't really capture the flavour of the book. After chapter five it becomes a gripping detective story with intriguing clues followed by a thrilling ending. You don't need a Kindle to read the novel. There is a link to download a free app that lets it be read on any device. www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07SJNP9S4My next novel, "The Adventures of Jasper Spode", is a crime thriller set in the world of antiques dealing and it is packed with Stoke and North Staffs references - some obvious, some hidden, some cryptic and some very obscure. You will need to be very knowledgeable about the local area to get them all. Best wishes, Teddy.

Anyone heard Angelus Apatrida's new album?
Never heard of them before, they just so happened to appear on my Tidal recommended.
It's like Slayer, Pantera and Megadeth had a child together. Bloody brilliant. I need to go through their discography at some point.

If you have 1 hour and 25 minutes you can free up whenever, then this album is amazing
Came out yesterday, again never heard of Harakiri For The Sky, but they were another one that popped up in my Tidal recommendations, and my first delve into post black metal.
Some nice melodic riffs, death metal-esque drumming parts and powerful vocals.
