It wasn't all peace and love at the beginning of the decade either though...
"Angry" times as well. Pit boots and loon pants.
"So let's not talk of love and flowers And things that don't explode We've used up all of our magic powers Trying to do it in the road" - Urban Guerilla - Hawkwind (Calvert/Brock)
Then again, putting this fine song in it's rightful place

This seems somehow appropriate as well.
In Every Dream Home A Heartache always does it for me,the lugubrious vocal, brooding, creepy synth and the way the guitar solo explodes from the speakers...well,it stirs certain parts even after all these years.

Skank I've seen Joan Armatrading several times over the years the best probably at Ronnie Scotts in Birmingham due to the size of venue. She's a great live performer. Here's another from the early days.

This is the early '70s for me . Released on John Peel's Dandelion label. [/p]
[/quote] Stafford lads and in my old next door neighbour's apocryphal rock annals, he was responsible for them ditching the clean cut image and taking up the Jew's Harp as a 'gimmick'. He roomed with them on a tour of the North East Workingmen's Clubs in the early 70's. My fave, and a mint tune for today.
