Cracking player though and for me still best striker in the league, will be hard for a patched up back four

7 more points at the very best for me. Whatever points tally at the close of season adds up to an 8th place finish I'll be very pleased as it would be a slight improvement on last season's placing and given the bad luck we've had with long and short term injuries over the season I'd say we've done very well. Will we finish 8th though, points regardless?? Liverpool are a point ahead with 2 games in hand - we aint catching them methinks. Southampton are catchable only if we in Monday. I fancy Chelsea to finish above us. I reckon 10th is nailed on, although with a game in hand Everton could well catch us especially if we drop points.
For me I see points more as progression than places or at least as equal ; points you've earned, but places are as much down to how wank other teams are - just ask Leicester
then again finishing 5th on 65 points or 10th on 70 points is kind of a nobrainer. Just seems that increasing points each season is good progress and generally league places should follow
Fair comment trent, but I still see our final league position as the true measurement for our performances over the whole of the season as opposed to our final points tally. Good, bad and indifferent performances are eventually measured by "all" competing teams over the entire duration of any given season by the time the season is over with.

I ain't worried by Man City at all. They will have bigger fish than us to fry that week, they were dross against the Baggies on Saturday. I think if we beat Spuds (and we are capable) the will to beat last seasons tally will emerge within the squad. We have had a poor month bar Watford, I think we are overdue a monumentous home performance, playing the top teams seems to bring out the best in us. 8 points are do-able. So are 0, in this crazy season.

I cant see and and think we'll finish 10th / 11th. With Butland I think we had a chance as he covers up a lot of defensive frailties but without him we will concede more.

Think we'll end on 53 points tied with Chelsea but in 10th place due to goal difference. Let's face it you can't really expect to finish 7th or 8th with a negative goal difference (which is set to rise further), let alone hope to qualify for Europa.
Jack B. has been my Stoke player of the year and it could have been another story altogether had he not got injured in that stupid pointless game.

I think we will just stumble over the 50 mark in a very anticlimactic finish to the season....maybe 51-52
I haven't liked what I've seen from the team recently...poor managerial displays allied injuries and with some players appear to have feet up already

Stoke must be the worst team to predict results from! We never really know what kind of Stoke that will show up! At our best we can seriously beat anyone, but at our worst we can also lose to anyone! I guess we'll get 7 points from the last 5 games to equal the points from last season.

good for you OS but your predictions are wildly optimistic and have little basis upon recent form and resutls My opinions are based on not knowing what the fuck Stoke are going to do next, which is how it's always been with our club. You should always factor in the unpredictable when it comes to our results. If I was really a miserable bastard like you and Raff, then I'd take 6 points now. OS.

Sadly, Im not very confident at all knocked the stuffing out of me - the last three league games have The liverpool one - tactically out thought and out fought by their B side -( humiliating actually) Swansea - was just a rank bad outing by overtired players run into the ground whilst on international duty and, an abysmal / disasterous substitution policy from a manager seemingly not understanding this ( bizarre was that) and Southampton was about being out thought and and out fought again, simply by a better football team and cleverer manager Saying all that, Id have never have dreamed but a few years ago - we would be a safe - mid-table premier league looking up instead of down but, thats what we are right now - and wonderful to relate Sadly Though even given the injuries, they fooled me into believing this was the season we might even climb into the top six or seven And again Sadly, recent form seems to have pretty much proven, we are quite ways off that Hope they prove me wrong (again) And Hughesy - massive asset to us but should not be so arrogant as to not realise his own mistakes sometimes Do you think we'd have been "tactically out-thought" by Liverpool had Jack Butland been in goal? No, me neither. I've never seen Butland concede lots of goals vs Liverpool or let in one from range he should save......oh

But after this tonight, what are your thoughts??
I can see Aguero murdering us by himself on Saturday - so its now looking a big ask to get that 54 or 55
Would take 50 points now

Its fair to say 54 points has gone
Not sure we will even beat Sunderland now, can only see 2 draws at best from Palace & West Ham.
Would need 3 wins to beat 54 points; about as likely as Vale as getting promoted
