Okay maybe he did marry his 13 year old cousin but Jerry lee Lewis is the real kind of Boogie Woogie Rock'n'Roll !

FWIW, this is my funeral tune ... maybe we should start a separate thread for them! Funeral tunes would make a great thread Here's mine, the song is a tribute to Bowie's guitarist Mick Ronson.. That's what I love about this thread ... I didn't know that that song even existed until just now, absolutely beautiful. I'm going to stick "Beside Bowie, The Mick Robson Story" on the telly right now, I've been meaning to watch it for ages! 👍 Saw Mott in Manchester, just last year ...

I saw them at Hammersmith odeon about 10 years ago for a reunion gig. Hunter really is the original rock star with the shades and corkscrew hair. Couldn't make the Manchester gig sadly.

I loved Mott the Hoople and saw them at the Viccy Hall in 1973 or 1974 (?) - absolutely brilliant. They were supported by an up and coming band called Queen. Hard to believe Ian Hunter is 80 years old !

www.amazon.com/Beside-Bowie-Mick-Ronson-Story/dp/B078J6FLH9Well just finished it. Not sure Bowie comes out of it in a particularly strong light. Although I accept it's only one individual documentary maker's interpretation of events. It's hard to reconcile how little money Ronson actually made however.

Doh! 🙈 Neil on the way in, Israel on the way out ... boom! 😎 I suppose it needs another thread because the convention seems to be three songs/ hymns. The last funeral I went to was rammed over at Bradwell Crem with people standing down the sides and along the back. When Barry White's You're the first kicked in the foot tapping started along with the smiles

I've been listening to Phosphorescent so much, since you got me into them for the first time a few months ago ... they're my favourite new (well in my terms) band. I can't wait to see them live. They're supporting The National at their homecoming shows in Cincinnati in May, what a gig that will be!

Don't think you'll be disappointed when you get to see them the tie in with The National sounds fantastic.

Gordon Giltrap. Appalachian Dreaming. What an amazing talented human being. I liked Gordon for many years. One of his better known tunes was Heartsong which was the theme tune for the BBC "Holiday" programmes. Great musician.

I had no idea (until just now), that the Holiday theme tune was by him ... I used to love it as a kid. FWIW, I've just checked Cliff Michelmore's wiki, he died just four years ago, aged 96!
