I think she's incredible. Who are the truly great pop/rock female songwriters of all time ... Joni Mitchell/Carole King/Patti Smith/Kate Bush/Madonna? How many classic songs have they ever written? 10 maybe 20 each at the very most but here we have somebody writing at Lennon & Mccartney/Paul Simon levels who has nailed, what 40 or 50 classics already and she's only been recording for seven years! What get's me is how incredibly consistent she is. So many albums get weaker as they progress but her records are consistently brilliant right to the very end ... if you took (say) Blue, Tapestry, Easter, Hounds of Love and Remain in Light and then any of the follow up albums to those records began with the last six tracks of Lana's latest album, then the critics would have been raving about the follow up to those classic albums.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d393ZF2AaCs We're into Whiter Shade of Pale territory here ... Good grief Paul, that's a hell of an assertion to make and fair play to you. I don't know that much of her work to be honest as after her debut she went off my radar. I'm a massive Joni Mitchell fan and think she's head and shoulders above every other female songwriter (not to mention most blokes), but LDR is certainly original, but in my view, as I said previously, she's difficult to categorise for the rock audience at large. I'm as guilty as most in that I've overlooked her for all of this time, but she will now get more attention from me!!! Absolutely phenomenal ... her a&r asked her to do a 3 minute radio edit for the single release and she told them to go fuck themselves! 10 million views in 48 hours ...

'Anutha Zone' the Dr. John marvellously slinky collaboration album. Bayou-ish psyched voojoo Blues featuring the Weller fella, the Spiritualized bag head and the Supergrassers Gaz & Baz and other reprobates.
All mint but 'Party Hellfire' is particularly so at the mo. Unshareable tho.

Elvis at 21. I heard a Squeeze song today. Very good. I thought it was called something like " unchanged" but Google/ you tube reveals nothing. Could have been Glenn Tilbrook. Can the music experts on here help?

Apropos of nothing in particular, I happened on this explanation of John Coltrane’s Giant Steps the other day.. it’s a bit ted talk-y but pretty interesting and very well explained if you have a layman’s interest in music theory.

Anyone who is reading this post, please take 5 minutes out of your life to listen to this. I never knew that Mongolian metal was even a thing untill just, but it's fucking ace! *The actual song starts about 1 minute in.

Anyone who is reading this post, please take 5 minutes out of your life to listen to this. I never knew that Mongolian metal was even a thing untill just, but it's fucking ace! *The actual song starts about 1 minute in. I first heard them a couple of weeks ago. I'll be checking them out live next February if I'm not away. They're such fun and I love their driving rhythms. While they couldn't be described as fun, I also like Jambinai's mix of metal and traditional (Korean in this case) instruments:
