I caught this young women talking on Radio 5 yesterday and genuinely happy that she'd had a record playlisted by the Beeb. Not that it meant anything to me but she was the first artist to be allowed to play her own music on X Factor. Sounds a bit Amy McDonald so Deeside? should like it.

It might seem unimportant but I think not and I stand to be corrected but one thing that Elvis " introduced" was the concept that HE was in control of musical arrangement not the " producers". There is a story that at the first day of his rehearsals after his contract had been taken over by RCA he , as an 18 year old, told the great producer, Chet Atkins, that " no one except me tells my guitarist ( Scotty Moore) what to do.....it may seem common practice now but in those days the record producer tended to dictate, so I believe.

MMMnnnn.. Here now. That song just made me think. You could have pinpointed part {perhaps a big part} of the dumbing down of music and the kind of vampiring and watering down of good original music. And then feed it out to the masses in between adverts and various memes and messaging, part of the programming. I heard that song, a snippet, the hook of it from the window of a passing car or summat and thought First Aid Kit. XFactory, Cowell credit card adverts. Cynical me. I'm listening to. And even that sticks in me craw a bit, pipped us at Culture.

My mate's son plays guitar and bass in this relatively new band. This single is great fun.

Also love this by another new band. Summer guitar pop frenzy.

Just been listening to 'Hey Ma..' Has to be one of the most criminally underrated protest songs written.Combining a sing-along chorus with anti-war on terror sentiments without undermining the song's validity or potency is a work of genius.

Sheffield tonight. Reminds me a bit of My Sharona, nearly. Good.. Just learning to appreciate FWF, late to the party. But this is virtually Linda Perhacs so that's perhaps why I'm warming. Jury still out on these fella me lads?

This is from the film Jailhouse rock. Elvis was 22 when he sang this, incredible voice. His co star Judy Tyler died in a head on collision 2 weeks after filming finished, Elvis never watched the film since.
