Got to mention one of my own personal favourites to wear the Stoke shirt he did it twice, Carl Beeston...Boxing day 1989 beat Newcastle 2-1,then in the 91/92 season at home against Swansea to win 2-1.Loved Beest. Both were crackers aswell. The Carl Beeston one was quality silencing about 6,000 travelling Geordies if I remember right?

It was mate,he could strike a ball could Beest.Top player. Didn't he score a decent goal at Pompey as well in a night game when that tosser George Andrews was commentating on Radio Stoke and he hardly raised his voice when it went in?

James O'Connor against Preston, right at the end, can't even recall what year but it was January ( ?) and circa 2002 (?) and bloody cold
Moyes was managing PNE, Cresswell and Nugent were their strike force, I think
First and only Friday night game I've ever seen us play, they were top of the league, we scored through Frode Kipper in about 4 mins, PNE were awful for the next 80 then got a penno, then James popped up
Mental of all mentals.

Lightbourne's last minute winner at home to Portsmouth in 98.Cracking mental that gave us false hope of surviving relegation.

Paul Barnes at Birmingham on the day of the riot. Produced a mental like no other. I was bollocksed celebrating that goal mate I can never remember one as intense as that one - I remember shaking after it. Good days those.

Lightbourne's last minute winner at home to Portsmouth in 98.Cracking mental that gave us false hope of surviving relegation. Which actually followed an out-of-nowhere 25 yarder from Ally Pickering, to get us level. Neither last minute nor the winner....but it made for a great last 10 mins

Honourable mentions also for Mark Devlin's last minute winner against Crewe in our first season down in Division 2, and George Berry's last minute winner against Leeds when we beat them 2-1 (1988 maybe?)
I also recall a Keith Bertchin equaliser away at Huddersfield (I think) just for the fact he ran about 100 metres celebrating (196/87 maybe?)
Amazing how I remember this shit but struggle to recall games in the last few years......

Ade Akinbiyi's equaliser at Rotherham. I remember it vividly as my brother "accidentally" punched me in the face during the mental. Not sure on the year though..

Was going to say the Gleghorn one at Hartlepool. My turn to drive, ball acher of a journey, freezing our balls off on an open terrace by the North Sea. Up pops Gleggy and all is well. Great season that.

Not sure if this counts, as I was in my living room listening to Nige on radio Stokewith my brother, Southend away night match. I know Nige gets stick on here, but we were battering away at them, Nige screaming, and in stoppage time, Sturridge I think scored. We both went berserk! Got a phone call from the guy over the road to say he nearly pissed himself watching us two leaping about like demented baboons. Clearly not in the league of those already mentioned, I was at most of those games, but memorable to me.

How has this thread got this long with a mention of Jimmy O'Connor?? I am rather surprised myself - reading down 2 pages and not a mention of that night in Cardiff. Was the 89th minute I think and quite late on in extra-time for the 2nd if memory serves me right

Arnie @ villa last year, not because it was a great goal or important or anything, but because he talked all kinds of shit to the crowd after he scored

I recall Zigic scoring against us for Brum in what was probably 2011 (I only remember this because remember watching the Manc derby on the TV at St Andrews before the game when Rooney scored with that shinned bicycle kick). pissed me off because there was about a 100 page thread on here linking us with him

Assaidi v chelsea The mother of all mentals You've nailed it with two of your selections mate. The Orient match is probably my most treasured memory of all the fantastic times we had with Lou in charge. When our second goal went in, I turned my back on my cousin and just stood there arms outstretched, not believing what I'd seen. He promptly wrapped his arms round my throat in celebration and for a short time I actually considered that I was going to die of the happiest strangulation ever. That last minute celebration was never bettered until Assaidi v Chelsea. My celebration for that goal can only be described as a cross between Graham Norton and a demented Dalek. I just completely lost the plot. There just isn't a feeling like it when you score in the dying moments of a match that really means something.

Lost count of how many games we scored winning goals in the last 10 minutes. Steino's two against West Brom in the Autoglass were just pure pisstake. ![(lol)](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/lvpvZ64EmrkLcuVniUmo.gif)
