Hang on only just got home 1975 not 1965 .... It had its merits although as a 12 year old sadly I wasn't involved , Dave Clark 5 and trini Lopez were my main points of interest

Are albums as impotant now. I don't think so. Music has only changed through the way we listen to it. not much the music itself, which is what albums were all about. It's about tracks now because people are more able to listen to things they wouldn't have been able to listen to before they bought an album.

Very true .....the Internet ( God Bless it ...to a certain extent. ) has changed the way people listen to music ...myself I still prefer the old 78's

Bloody hell. My ears aren't big enough for all this. I'm glad I didn't waste time taking my coat off. Enjoy it all people. Music makes minds. Back to 69 for me - the year that is, ahem.
P.S. DC's observation about the coolness of obscurity was just as true back then. The Beatles were tragically unhip among the cognoscenti don't you know.

Moon landing ......the Beatles were on the way out then though weren't they ? Pretty much mate. By my time a couple of years later smartarses were playing both them and their legacy down. Yesterdays jam. Far cooler to be seen with a Third Ear Band album under your arm ffs. Good music lasts though doesn't it?

Some artists I've enjoyed over recent years from the top of my head. Death Grips Tune Yards Oneohtrix Point Never Real Estate King Krule Beach House Dean Blunt Shabazz Palaces Tiny Ruins Rozi Plain Lower Dens And loads of stuff on the Hyperdub label. Concur with Swans and Sleaford Mods shouts above, can't abide by Disclosure or Kate Tempest though. It's taken a time to pick through the stuff I didn't know. Some great stuff. Tuneyards in particular have got me. Dean Blunt, Oneohtrix and Tiny Ruins too. I'm going to have to persist a bit with King Krule, find his vids a bit off putting but I like his sound. Cheeers for those pointers.

Azaelia Banks is cheeky, spent a pleasant hour googling her, new to me. And enjoying Todd Terje and Temples, who I hadn't heard of before. Cheeers for them hints.

Kanye West - My Beautiful Twisted Dark Fantasy (yes he's an egotistical dick but that album is a modern masterpiece) Foals - Holy Fire and What Went Down Jamie T - Carry On The Grudge Jungle - Jungle Roots Manuva - Bleeds Catfish and the Bottlemen - The Balcony The Weeknd - Beauty Behind The Madness Have to agree with The Balcony. Brilliant band and can't wait for their new one in a few weeks. Both of Noel Gallagher's albums have been good. The 1975 are utter tosh though!

Floating Points worth a listen (recommend headphones for this one and you do have to be in the mood for it) as is Nao. Not new but Iggy Pop's and New Order's latest albums are really good an all.

All the stuff now is either un-listenable or comes across as a parody of itself. There's definitely a gap in the market for a decent metal band to completely dominate it.

You started most of them! Guilty as charged, my friend!
Trouble is, there's only me, Metalhead & occasionally Cheesefreex who like the Heavy Metal one, its a hopeless cause I still keep adding stuff on every day in vain
The Prog & Classical Music one's started well but ran out of steam. All the older farts like me have been embroiled in the political arena. I'll let them die (the threads, not the old farts!) until something good pops in my head and I revive them again.
I cant really compete with all this trendy, young, fresh music can I LOL????
Now, If you prefer, I do have a few ideas for some fresh political threads.....
