pure revenge from the Palarse chairman. He had a bonus clause for keeping them in the prem and he did it so surely he's earned the bonus. I get why the chairman is pissed off with TP for how he left them though. ...to which he was entitled so long as he didn't leave before the first game of the season. He left He's not entitled

I wonder why TP wanted the bonus paid early? He's never struck me as being strapped for cash and although he lives in an expensive area he doesn't strike you as someone who doesn't live comfortably within his means.
If he wanted it paid early because he planned to walk out before the start of the season, you think he'd have had his lawyer check the small print of the contract before he actually walked out.
TP has cost himself £2 millions by leaving less than a week before he could have trousered the £2 million with no comebacks. And could then have avoided £1.5 million damages and costs if he had settled early when it should have been clear he wasn't going to win.
The whole thing seems very odd.

It's not just the bonus is it. It's finding a new manager two days before the season starts and all the costs involved in that. Then it's the cost of sacking him and going through all the process again with Pardew. Paying Newcastle off as well?
The toxic fucker left them in the shit. Why ask for the bonus early? He knew he was going alright and he chanced his arm. Parish bit back. That'll be 5 million for your troubles.

Why take the risk of falling foul of the small print in the contract? No matter how much I wanted to shaft someone, I think I could hang fire for a week, if doing so meant I would be in a bomb proof position as regards a contract I had put my signature to.

And could then have avoided £1.5 million damages and costs if he had settled early when it should have been clear he wasn't going to win. The whole thing seems very odd. According to the Mail Online But the complaint from Palace concerned the circumstances in which they paid the bonus money to their manager, with Pulis asking for it to be paid early so he could purchase a property near his Dorset home for his son.
Pulis, it is understood, received the money on August 12 only to resign two days later ‘by mutual consent’. Sources say the money was due on August 31, but Palace were angry that having requested the payment early he then left the club without a manager before the start of the new campaign.
Parish and his colleagues were certainly aggrieved, highlighting the fact that Pulis did not eventually purchase the property he had requested the money for.
How much truth there is in that only the two parties know.

How much truth there is in that only the two parties know. Cheers. I still think it is weird that he didn't stick to the letter of the contract in the timing of his walk out. Still, he's paid a heavy price for not checking the small print with a very fine tooth comb. EDIT: Looking at the Daily Mail story, you'd imagine that if that is the case, then the fact that he didn't go through with the purchase of the property he claimed he wanted the money for, will have dealt a big blow to his chances of winning his case. It will have cast doubt on his integrity as regards his version of conversations which were not part of the written contract.

And on it goes...I'm already cringing about the reception he's gonna get when or if he turns up at the Brit with the Albion or whoever next season.
I'll stick a quid on a rendition of Tony Pulis you're a wanker you're a wanker or similar, and we will look such a bunch of cunts. Like Arsenal fans basically.

What I find mind-numbing is that we have six pages of posts about
a. someone who left the club in May 2013 (ie almost 3 years ago) b. a situation between the ex-manager and chairman of another football club, in which few, if any, of us have the slightest interest. c. opinions on that situation, the facts of which, probably 99.9999% of posters know absolutely nothing
It is like reading the answer papers of a GCE in 'Pointless Pontificating'.

How much truth there is in that only the two parties know. It does make you wonder how a bloke with such a safety first and risk free approach to football would try it on in this way. Anyone would think he was only motivated by what's in it for him financially

I started to feel the effects about page 3, checked to see how many more pages stretched ahead of me and felt the necessity of advising those tempted to read the thread that they should find more inspirational reading.
