Why did Palace pay him the bonus in the first place if he wasn't eligible for it? He was eligible for it as he completed the task of avoiding relegation, I think it was possibly agreed that he would remain as manager for a certain length of time afterwards whereas in fact our former manager resigned shortly after receiving the bonus payment.

Incredibly naive from both parties involved if that's the case, and it seems like you are quite right. He asked CP for the bonus to be paid early, which they agreed to, and he then left two days before the start of the season - the cut off for the bonus.

I deserve a smack on the nose. I suugest the usual meeting place of 'the statue' for the tear up. The real fans will be rattling their tins for Tone I'd be pleased to contribute obviously but I need to keep all my coins for scratching the neighbour's car apparently.

Something must have gone on that was, to say the least, a bit dodgy. £1million damages or fine???? You don't get that unless something iffy has gone on.
No doubt it will all come out in the wash.

It must be the largest ever fine from the Premier League, maybe with the exception of West Hams for playing ineligible players?

I will always respect Pulis for getting us to and establishing us in the promised land, and for his fine charity work. But he has a history of falling out with clubs and players, and it seems he pushed his luck too far this time. I don't doubt that Pulis asked for his bonus payment brought forward because he was planning to scarper, but his gamble didn't pay off...for once he messed up on his attempted interpretation of the small print to his advantage.

Clear breach on contract so palace had every right to claim the money back.
Just a stupid mistake by Pulis at end of the day but he's already got enough I'm sure

That is indeed a bit of a strange one, overdue interest on the bonus might make up some of it but all I can think of is Palace claiming the cost or some of the cost of having to pay off TP's crack scouting and coaching team unless they'd just done a mass colour print of TP's invisible dossier can't really see it being anything dodgy.

Ha brilliant.
He deserves his fine - he deliberately set out to fuck Palace over by resigning when he did. He could have waited 2 days and there would have been no consequences but he left when he did for a reason - spite.

The report says Parrish agreed to paying the bonus early. Something has gone on and the split between the two sounds acrimonious. Mutual consent my arse.

It would be great if this could be the ultimate cathartic thread for the rather sad folk who have built up this utterly ridiculous attitude to TP Let them have this bit of glory , let them imagine a few more 'facts' and then let's move on because surely to goodness they will now have realised that events on the football field are never going to back up their bitterness. Mock away (even if this decision, as they often are, is over turned) and then just leave it and get on with other things. Could various people live with that .....probably not.

But the success criteria for the bonus still stand. He's not fulfilled it, ergo bonus comes back. Looks like he was done a massive favour getting it early. Pure lunacy on both sides when you're dealing with that kind of money. It's 2 or 3% of their entire club turnover. Fucking madness.

Doesn't TP have a lawyer instead of an agent ? no wonder he lands himself in these situations, he was probably told they would be able to find a loop hole to allow him to keep the money.
