Underway in India at the moment.
The big Test nations join next week.
India must be favourites.
If one of big hitters (Buttler, Stokes, Hayles) runs into some top form - we may have a chance.
Australia looking good.
South Africa have a chance if ABV kicks off.
New Zealand would have had a shout - but not without McCullum.
Anyone in with a chance?

You can't beat watching Holland beat Oman at rounders.
Thank God the 6 nations is back.

All the teams have big hitters.
The key factor then could well be who has the most effective spinners. They've shown themselves to be very effective in this format and could well be decisive in this tournament in India.
I reckon the winning side will play three spinners.

Well the first game has gone the way of the Kiwis against India.
Low scoring game 126 vs 79 all out on slow low turning pitch. Looked like PP was right - 3 spinners did the job for New Zealand.

Absolutely disgraceful pitch for a 20/20 match and served the Indians right for preparing such wickets.

Blimey - I did indeed call that first game spot on! I think I'll give up now while I'm ahead. But, then again, when you're on a roll... I see England start tomorrow v the Windies. I wonder if we'll pick Rashid, Ali and Dawson? I hope so. Frankly, we could do that and still have 3 quicks play - Stokes, Willey and Topley. All of those players, with the exception of Topley, could bat at 6 or higher. So let's think about our possible / probable 11; Hales Roy Root Morgan Butler Stokes Ali Dawson Willey Rashid Topley Wow - that's one impressive side!

It's an especially good batting order when you consider the #9 quite often opens in the one day game, and the #10, I think averaged about 50, only behind Root in Yorkshire's 1st class side a couple of seasons ago.

Two spinners it is for England then - Jordan the beneficiarie. Let's hope he does something to justify his selection - because he's had a good run now for England and generally been pretty shite!
Nervous start by England with the bat - but plenty of time to go.

182 - pretty good score, but may well not be enough.
Too slow at the start for my liking. Both opening batsmen were too cautious - telling stat for them is no sixes of 41 balls which says it all. In the opening 6 power play overs you have to go over the top and neither opener looked to do this. 43 runs combined from those 41 balls isn't good enough - should be at least 10 more. And that could be the difference.
Now we have to bowl well.
Could be a very exciting game.

Saying that, 250 could be short if Gayle really fires.

Just need to enjoy the hitting. That said our bowling has been disappointing - far too much down the leg side.

The hitting has been typical Gayle , not much you can do when he's playing in that manner ......but you are correct the bowling has been very poor , Jordan in particular has been disappointing , as was pointed out on commentary he's a bit of a one trick pony at present , Yorkers and nothing else .

As said above, not much you can do once Gayle is in the mood but we bowled a lot of dross. Must improve.

In fairness to Jordan I thought he was the best of the quicks yesterday - but that ain't saying much. We do need to think carefully about our bowling though. In India, there are two types of bowling that seem to work; spin (obviously) and express pace. Yesterday I thought both spinners bowled well until Gayle started swinging his bat. The seamers were just too loose - starting the innings with two leg side wides is just awful. And this continued throughout the innings - fair enough getting driven straight for six by Gayle, not much you can really do about that when the big man is firing, but all those wides and nudges down the leg side, generally for 4 as you have fine leg in the circle, are nothing more than bad bowling. And speaking about straight driven 6's - which are essential in T20 cricket, they were noticeably absent in large parts of our innings. The first came when Butler was batting. Our opening pair need a kick up the arse. We posted a par score yesterday and only got there because of some late innings hitting. Message to Roy and Hales - go big and go straight or get out.

And I thought Agar's first over for the Aussies was bad: 6 6 . . . 6
Jordan's first over: 4 4 4 6 4 .

And I thought Agar's first over for the Aussies was bad: 6 6 . . . 6 Jordan's first over: 4 4 4 6 4 . That was a shocking over. Too short, too wide too often. We may have a new approach but our selection thinking is still puddled. At some point we'll play the third spinner and pick our quickest bowler Plunkett.
