I am no statto but I do recall that we were without Captain Marvel early on in the season and struggled down the bottom of the table. When he came back results improved no end but now that he is injured again, we have collapsed defensively. To all our Stattos, what are the statistics of our games (a), with Shawcross on the pitch, and (b) time without him playing. I believe they will speak volumes about how much we are missing him.

Stats will tell you so much but what I do know is that we look pretty wank without our captain marvel at the back. And you can take that to the bank!

We look totally different with him leading us.

We're a relegation side without him, top 8 with him.
That's about the long and short of it.

I'd been his biggest critic but prior to yesterday he's had a good spell since getting back in the team. Thought he was poor for the first goal and obviously the third but will work on the principal that he's being hampered by his injury (that said the third goal is always on the cards with him). He's not even in the same postcode as Ryan though.

Now they're biting him on the arse. I think he's a joke of a player. And to think he replaced Huth. Absolute madness.

Matty Etherington. My Dad. And the bloke that sits behind me at the Brit. He's been making mistake after mistake after mistake. People can't see it but that goes for most of this season. And here we are, people are catching me up.

Yup. And then we got the shit German. He's not even in the same postcode as Ryan though. We have to cut Wollscheid a bit of slack regarding him carrying an injury yesterday, but the above is the inescapable truth. Some of the nonsense written about him in Ryan in recent weeks is staggering, Woolscheid is nowhere near the defender a fully fit Shawcross is but then again not many are.

He's got away with a few (those ridiculously high challenges when he should be heading the ball for example) BUT he has been much improved for me. I don't trust him as I think he's got a mistake in every game but I though both he and Muni got beasted by Lukaku yesterday.

He's improved but he's still making the massive mistake in most games and has done since Southampton when he should have given away a peno for one of those challenges. They did, the whole back 4 were fucking awful. But this whole head in the sand attitude with Wolly does my tits in. He has got a mistake in him every game, that's not acceptable.

Muniesa and Wollscheid are both the sort of player who you'd be happy with as third choice in case of injury. Front line centre backs, they ain't.

Ryan keeps all the top strikers quiet and WANTS to be the one to match up against them.

We rely on Shawcross and that has been so obvious ever since Hughes arrived. That is a sad indictment of the management team
also Pieters is cream crackered and again no left back to let him have a rest

The expected goals from chances we're allowing with and without Ryan. Attachment DeletedBasically we're allowing one more attempt on target w/o Ryan compared to with him and that's costing us around 3 tenths of a goal per game when he's absent. We may be missing his aerial abilities most. Without Ryan ~ 18% of opponents on target attempts come from headers, resulting in five goals. With Ryan ~ only 13% of on target attempts from opponents come from headers, resulting in no goals.
