Yup Arnie needs to go on the outside more (once would do). His crossing with his left is brilliant but I can't remember the last time he didn't come inside and run into traffic or give it Pieters to blast into row z. Perhaps there is no forward in there to cross it to? There was though on Saturday. He doesn't he look to go on the outside. Not once did he even entertain it and hasn't in an age.

This is deja Vu all over again. Last season we were all whining about how predicatble our wing play is. Both wingers are playing in the reverse positions that Hughes seems to be obsessed with. The opposing fullbacks know they are going to cut inside and just play them to that side, then the DMs cut them off. So now they're double or triple teamed with nowhere to go except backwards If we can all see this from our armchairs or seats in the stands, how come the coaches don't get it and change things up a bit - like switching wings (duh!)? We must be missing something.

Why does he never seem to spend any time on the left wing anymore? It's almost as if he's hiding. Rubbish, the fact the other wide forward is doing exactly the same thing is indicative that that is the game plan. Is it working is it fook, I think we'd be much more effective if the wide boys provided more width and the CAM supported the lone central striker more. Shaq put a lovely ball in from the right wing early doors that MBD failed to get on target then spent the rest of his game wandering all over the place to very little effect before he was withdrawn. Get Ryan back in and a stronger CDM unit will hopefully allow that, fingers crossed. I thought we looked more like creating something once Ireland came on, maybe he deserves a go at CAM. I think I would try to fit Joselu, Ireland and Imbula into the side as they would be on the same wavelength. All three are pretty fresh, too unlike others who seem a bit jaded at present.

'Only on their game (making the effort?) 50-70% of the season' Can we expect any more from mercenary players who see SCFC as just a stepping stone in their career? I can't think of one 'next level' player we have signed since TP who has had a solid 75%+ season yet but Arnie has come damn close this year so he deserves a break more than most. To be honest,i'd be questioning the mentally and desire of any player who signed for Stoke who doesn't have a personal aim of improving themselves to end up playing at top.

I think Arnie is just wanting to be on a winning team. There's no doubt he's a great player and it would be wise to keep him at Stoke.
What's happening in the premier league at the moment is that too many teams are playing 'Smash and Grab'. Parking the bus and waiting for an opening to attack. Leicester are at the top for it, Everton did it to us on Saturday and so have many others. It's a cheap way to win but it's working for some. Hell, we used to do it!!!
We need to play a lot more cagey and the results will change. I'm surprised this hasn't been sorted earlier.

He has never looked like he enjoys his football with us. Except when he scores and he is our top scorer.

Give the lad a break ffs.

Saturday was the only game Ive missed this season and I just thought that it was intersting to listen to other fans views of his recent performances, and its not just the last two games where he has been ineffective, bordering on the disinterested, its the last four or five. He is in contract talks and reported to be asking for £100k per week, which in my view is an enormous amout for someone who appears to play bwhen he feels like it! Yes he is a good player but the team needs consistency. My point is that I dont want anyone to be bigger than the club and be a bad apple in the 'dressing room', look at Newcastle for instance, a team (group is a better word) of players who wont play for their manager and look where it's got them. Play your heart out Arnie or be replaced!

When SJW was in contract talks he played well (he always gives his best anyway) when his contract was settled he did go off a bit as has Erik has done to some degree. Erik who has not had the best of the last few games actually often shakes his head in disappointment at Arnie, so what the hell is going on?

Arnie's had a couple of bad games, wow, the vitriol is astonishing. All his game changing performances are quickly forgotten. I've said it before but many on here wouldn't know a decent footballer if they were kicked in the bollocks by one Judging by some of the reactions on this thread mate you'd think they had been kicked in the b*ll*cks by one

Play your heart out Arnie or be replaced! Well that is a slightly different approach to 'get rid' but still plenty of agenda-based innaccuracies. Recent performances (I will try to be objective although brief, but no doubt you will disagree): Everton - poor, no excuses other than the whole team were cack. Man U - poor, but plenty of effort with not a lot of success. Palace - Did not play. Liverpool - Great performance despite being injured early doors, scored a goal. Leicester - Did not play. Arsenal - Good performance Norwich - Great performance, involved in all our attacking play, setting up Walters and nearly scoring himself. I could go on but you get the jist - thats 3 out of 5 recent games with good performances, before that he was simply excellent against the likes of Everton, Man U & Man City. Unfortunately his form has dipped in the last two games along with the rest of the team as a whole. The £100k a week story is just paper talk, and Hughes himself has said that it is just standard contract talks with his agent going high, the club going low, with the likely outcome somewhere in the middle. Absolutely no reason to suggest that there is any truth in this 'holding the club to ransom' bollocks. Consistency? Arnie has been very consistent this season. To suggest otherwise is rubbish. You have zero evidence to support any claims that Arnie thinks he is 'bigger than the club' or 'a bad apple'. Zero. He has been here nearly 3 yrs now, I thought this had been put to bed a long time ago... Argue with any of that if you will, but please stick to the facts.

As you said with Erik he signed his new contact and has not played to well, but is not getting the stick Arnie is getting. If he does not sign in the next few months I think he will be off thinking he can go to a better club..

Pieters, Johnson, Whelan, Bojan, Shaq and Afellay have lost their form in recent games. Diouf and Walters don't play a good season so far. Joselu is on the bench in recent games. Ireland is ignored by the Manager or gets subbed if we are 3:0 down. Odemwingie's and Crouchie's time is over.
So tell me, how can one player shine in such a team?

OK, good reply - but - I won't disagree for the sake of disagreeing and I don't have an anti Arnie agenda, however and his form drop, possibly coincidental, aligns with ongoing contract talks and he does have odd body language. This is bound to cause speculation. I sincerely hope you are correct and my suggestions as to perhaps why he is pissing people off are unfounded.

Arnie has had a good season so far in my eyes. Every player has a drop in form that is just life. Are you always 100% at work? Plus if the rest of the team aren't always 100% can you drag them along by yourself?

So you don't disagree with Pez75's excellent analysis that in-fact he's only had two poor games recently, but... £100k per week - for what he's churning out - fuck me. I say get rid. So you want shot of one of the players of the season so far after two poor performances, and that some papers report he's after £100k/week (like they actually have the first idea what's going on in private negotiations)? So given Bojan's form recently we better "get rid" too. And Shaq. Diouf as well. Afellay's form has dipped - so should tell him to piss off too? Wooly and Muni - well they can go, and Whelan has had a couple of dodgy games..

Arnie's quite recently stopped referring to Stoke in his recent Instagram's (until then he's always put #potters etc)
Stopped about a month ago which obviously coincides with both contract negotiations and dip in form/cannot be arsed mode.
I never usually read into social media but can't help feel something's not right - especially when he's on a plane 3 days ago on his last update! (Don't know how to upload pics sorry)
Hopefully he ups his game today and starts playing with a smile on his face again!

He was in contract negotiations when he destroyed manure and man city either side of not playing great v crystal palace. There are some absolute idiots on posting on this thread. Bojan signs a contract that took MONTHS to sort and he's a great lad committed to the club. Walters puts in a transfer request and he's a great servant only asking for what he deserves. Arnie is in negotiation to sign a new contract. If he had no interest in staying, he would refuse to enter negotiations just like begovic and n'zonzi did. In negotiating a new contract that will serve him through the peak of his career, he's a mercenary twat holding the club to ransom and now you insinuate he's a bad apple in the dressing room which is so far from the truth and a figment of your imagination.

A fit Moses type of player any day of the week for me, when Moses was here he couldn't get a look in.
We desperately needed cover in transfer window and ala Ryan we did the square root of fcuk all.

We have been found out. As has been said before, Arnie & Shaq always cutting inside, triple marked, attacking threat nullified. LMH really has to try something different. Try swapping them round & get some crosses coming in to (choose your CF). We really do need a Plan B
