Missed the Dj Deep like that. Whatever happened to 16B and Rollo and Deep Dish etc? You're thread has re-started a few musical cogs, I've been trying to find {physically and on youtube} an album by K. Alexi? {with a puppet thing on the cover}. Early NY/Hip hop House hybrid, a bit like an early blueprint for Daft Punk. A bit like the 'M.A.D.' by Kurtis Mantronix. Anyway can't find it. Any clues? Masters At Work. Global Communication, Herbert etc. Jumpers for goalposts. Deep Dish are still doing stuff, I think they changed to dubfire or something. 16B, not sure, I have a Robert Owens record they remixed somewhere, so many artists out there. I have old hip-house stuff on DJ International, super old house label that did Hip House and old house classics. I'll dig around. K-Alexi, fuckin old school mate! my cogs are turning now

K-Alexi, fuckin old school mate! my cogs are turning now Glad I wasn't imagining K-Alexi! I lost interest in the dancefloor a decade or so ago. But more recently with the assistance of Paul Spencer's Pharmaceuticals the dancefloor has been relocated to me kitchen. Ellen Alien, Solomun, Acid Pauli.. and beyond. Brill for dance cooking. This was a real gem from the Pharmacy. It goes against everything I said about soulful singing, but the best tunes are the ones that confound you. I reckon. Like a Cocteau Twins version of a Michael Jackson tune... slowing down yer House Bud. The Internet.

what do people think about newer stuff like this Love everything about the overall groove, but the incessant vocal sample is over done for me. By 3 mins me head is just a bit broke. "There's a spoon" or "Baddest Groove" or "There's this Groove"? Shame that he didn't fade it out now and again and let the tune breathe a bit. I'll have a look at the other stuff because it's certainly interesting Mr. mee. Cheers.

Being quite a young'n at 23, I'm into your more modern variety of house/deep house, which should annoy the purists amongst us, but I digress, this is by far and away my favourite track and the one I use as a benchmark against other tunes, there's no annoying constant vocal, just pure sex.

Its funny being Over here in Canada, in Toronto I am so close to NYC. Deep HOUSE IS CHEZ DAMIER AND all the wax above. Meanwhile back in the House room, DJ Sneak has come on, slipped a tricky disco number into it:

And in the back dark deep house room, you are drawn to the vocals, you don't like vocal house but it's fucking slamming in the back room, should you check it out?

Some great records posted so far. Here's my first contribution, it's a track that is getting played a lot by Jeremy underground at the minute. I'm confident it will put a smile on your face.

Not sure if anyone raved in the early ninties but fuck me, Lights out, bins busted Movin' Shadow takes us into that Jungle/Techno/Drum and Bass/Dance hinterland that chucked up some interesting toons. Their cut price compilations had 4Play, Source Direct etc and shit {slang} that blew me head off slightly. Dillinga and Roni Size and Metalheadz and such. On a quirkier note this was my fantastic intro to the genre. Luke Vibert/Plug/Wagon Christ properly fried me yed. Rebuilt Kev {one of the best names for an EP ever by Plug Apologies for slowing it down. Night Owls Are Back. E-z Listener by Wagon Christ {inappropriate nomenclature- I originally bought it because I thought by the name they'd be a mint Punk band.} They weren't.

S-Man is Roger Sanchez btw, I'm assuming he colloborated with Huxley. An old record of Roger's from 96 is on the first page, and a remix he did of Jamiroqui is close to it as well So Roger sneaked his way into being the most played in this thread so far! Not surprised really, He was doing house records before you were born even, and you still like his stuff! And New house to does not annoy me, it inspires me! ( Good shit anyway) I still buy new stuff all the time, like this:

Appreciating the Nightmares on Wax, now there was a fucking party when I saw them live.
Do the rest of you get to see many live sets?
As for my 2nd contribution, I'm going to go a bit low tempo again before I drop into my armoury of filth. The background of this artist is as fascinating as the music he produces and gives it so much context. Gabor Szabo escaped communist Hungary in 1956, the year of the Hungarian revolution and moved to the States. His music is a kind of East meets West to me.
Very groovy tune that's equally as relaxing, give it some TLC.

Cheers mate, to be honest my knowledge of jazz is pretty limited and I actually came across Szabo through studying an Eastern European history module last year. As for my taste being sophisticated ..... I promise you an absolute leg wobbler tomorrow evening!

I have loads of, umm, uhhh...ahem 'cracking' FULLY FUNCTIONING "trial" software and VST's you can dabble with just hit me up. I have an FTP and can send large files. :-) I reckon Reason and Ableton fit the bill for you, with a few VST synths on top to get you going. Just need a decent machine with enough RAM. (Windows XP, 7 and higher (64 bit and 32 bit I can provide production software for) I run Windows 7, still. It's the best by far Anyway back to the tunes, Rare french funker from 97/98
