Definite red card but pointless red card, the ball was out of play and a nano second later so would the player have been out of play, a few people claiming it was red mist, he had been ripped another arse hole by some piss taking midfield play where he could not get near the ball and was made to look a twat, cant remember that part of the game to be fair but it sounds good.........
But..........
Can not help but draw a very close reflection to Robert Huths sending off against I think Sunderland, same conditions, same sliding approach, same take out of a player, same conclusion from the ref.......
Yet we all defended it and said it was never a sending off and the ref should have taken the weather in to account.

That was a 50/50 ball on the centre circle mate.....not on the touch line near the dugouts with the ball 95/5 in our favour

We appealed it too and pretty much everyone said how harsh it was and that Meyler milked it. Totally different for me.

Nothing like Huths red card at all.
O'Neil went straight through the back of Affelay on the touchline in a pointless from behind tackle.
Huth contested a 50/50 ball in the middle of the pitch that was covered on snow, slid in and couldn't stop his momentum and hardly touched Meyler and was wrongly sent off.
O'Neils was a disgraceful challenge.

The only similarity is that Sundeland's manager at the time had the same name as the offender in this case.

I clapped Tommy Mooney off when he got sent off on his debut at Burnley. I shouted "Well played Tommy" to him as he approached the tunnel and he looked at me like I was a moron. He was right.

Poles apart mate sorry. Different area of the pitch, Huths was a slide which he tried to avoid the player when he realized he was out of control on snow - in the middle of the pitch. O'Neill's was literally in the dug out, from behind, and he even finished off by scissoring his legs. It was a malicious, deliberately dangerous tackle.

Out of control i think was another term knew it was some bollox either was it was shit as i remember huth slid in the snow tried to back out the lad jumped huth missed then he stayed down like he had been sniped huth walked. Meyler wasn't it?

I've searched and searched for a video of that but can't find it. I remember a twelve foot path he carved in the snow as he was sliding, he pulled his legs away as well didn't he? total farce

One of my local BPL viewing mates here in the states is a Norwich fan. He couldn't agree more that it was a rash out of control tackle... It's his first red in 201 appearances for the canaries he said... His fans also really let him know how it hurt their chances to go 8 up from the bottom three clubs. Decent lot most of their fans I know or meet. Imagine if it was an Arsenal player doing that, they'd say it was a conspiracy or something. Done well to make 210 appearances, when he only joined the club in 2014.Where the hell did he get that stat from?Must be a real fan. He is mate. He's like their SJW or Whelan type. Grit and crucial to the team as a whole he said. Mental tackle from someone normally solid I'm told.
