I've said it already on this thread but looking at some recent posts I'll say it again - only Arsenal fans and those brainwashed by wenger would say that's a red.
Oh and while I wouldn't be happy if that happened to Bojan (because he's so little and only looks about 12) I wouldn't want a player sent off for it. Bit of physicality that's all.

Colin Todd labelled it "typical dirt from Shawcross"

Soft free kick let alone a card as well?

Total bollocks. The correct decision was made. Standing in the middle of 30 odd Germans (who can hardly be labeled partisan Stoke fans) at the time who were laughing at what they saw as play acting by Firmino. However the FA do need to correct their rescinding of the GCam red, so e-mail your views to the FA and get the result that you want.

Never an elbow in a million years. He'd have been off if it was - the ref was six yards away. Spot on nothing in it whatsoever.

He's been taking lessons off Fellaini (sp). That twat does it 20 times in every game and gets away with it. I can forgive our captain one indiscretion without being Wengerseque about it.

a deliberate elbow to me is performed with a closed fist and a bent arm, neither of these things apply in this case, Ryan stuck his arm out to block the liverpoo player getting across him and winning the ball, yes his arm made contact with his face and yes putting his arm there was a deliberate attempt to impede the other player, it wasn't violent and it wasn't done to case injury so for me it was a free kick and nothing more, weirdly the same conclusion the professional referee came to who was only a few feet from it.

If one of there players had done it this board should of been in meltdown, ref got a sending off on Saturday wrong and was rightly overturned, last nights as of yet as not been reviewed if it is Ryan might be having a rest.As a defender last night Ryan played well with the ball at is feet he looked so uncomfortable.

He knew what he was doing, as do many of the other players that do it.

Out of interest has anyone seen a single piece of independent media commentary, in a minute-by-minute, live text or match report which even makes mention of this completely innocuous moment in the game (never mind whether it should have been a red card)? I've had a bit of a look and can't see anything. Do we not think at least somewhere someone might have mentioned that Shawcross was lucky to escape further sanction?
It wasn't even close to a booking, never mind a red. I watched the replays at the time and thought it was only just about a foul.

Well I've only seen it once live at the match and my first reaction was that Ryan just put an arm across to block off Firmino who'd been jumped into and at him all night. If people have seen it again and reckon it's a deliberate elbow then fair enough, but the referee was yards away and had probably the clearest view in the stadium.
And I've not really seen too much fuss about it on social media. I'm sure had it have been that bad we've have seen vines of the incident all over Twitter. Has Durham even mentioned it?

Can anyone point me in the direction of some extended 'highlights' from last night? Didn't see the Shawcross incident from high up in the South Stand, but did think Whelan was lucky not to concede a penalty by shoving Joe Allen over in the second half. Not that it really matters now but I'd like to see it again. I thought Joselu looked decent too, but he was a long way away.

Christ All Frigging Mighty. What have we become?
First of all it wasn't an elbow. His arm was straight. He put it over Firmino shoulder when he was jumping because Firmino jumped into him making no attempt to head the ball as he and Lallana had done all game without penalty. I doubt whether his arm even connected with the twats face from the lack of rolling round like shot he actually did. Secondly it certainly wasn't snidy. The ref was 6 yards away for fucks sake. Huth's punch on Upson was snidy but I seem to remember everyone thinking what quality that was then. Are we Arsenal in disguise?
