You never answered, where would he be without Stoke City? He was successful before us and after us and would have been successful whether he came here or not. After all his achievments here, he should not have to be grovelling and thanking Stoke for his opportunity. The question we should be asking is where would Stoke be without Pulis? He wasn't successful at all before he got the gig here.I thought we'd established all of this.He was a lower division journeyman very much in the Stan Ternent /Ronnie Moore mould.Without Stoke City and Peter Coates that's exactly where he'd have stayed.

The last few pages of this thread about a referee's performance have been brilliant. Filled to the brim with fascinating information & opinions that I've never heard before on this forum. You should come on here more often then

Exactly - not 10th in League 1

But it was Pulis that got us to the prem and kept us there - we were heading for tier 3 football before he came, he created his own chance at managing in the prem. Also Pulis has nothing but good things to say about his experience at Stoke and how fond he still is of the Coates family even though they sacked him. The guy shows integrety when talking of all things Stoke and his time here and even turned up hours after his mothers death to manage a game. Yet on this board there is nothing but contempt for him and people who apparently think he owes us everything FFS, he didn't appoint himself! I'll try and spell it out to for a final time. TP was on the managerial scrapheap when he was given the job at Stoke - but only after George Burley turned the job down. Had Burley taken the Stoke job nobody knows how the fortunes of SCFC or Tony Pulis would have turned out, but it's not hard to imagine that he wouldn't have been given the opportunity to manage in the top two divisions given his track record and the fact that he'd been out of work for just over two years. He has gone on to forge a very good career as a Premier League manager - and all credit to him for that - and has become a wealthy man, without doubt because Peter Coates gave him the opportunity at Stoke. He owes Peter Coates a lot - imo arguably everything he's achieved since he arrived at Stoke - and he himself has acknowledged that. I am grateful you replied to my posts and for your superior knowledge and that you even gave me the opportunity to talk to you, had I not been talking to you I could have scraping around on the lower depths of the Blackpool FC message board and never reached the lofty heights of the mighty oatcake Happy new year to you

Guess we will never know - you may be correct. But then cream always rises to the top, or so they say Up for work in 8 hours Thanks for your thoughts though
