www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/manchester-uniteds-louis-van-gaal-7045862We didn't really need this shit did we . We have enough problems of our own without added media attention. A Nice boring as shit 1 - 0 win would have done me fine, now every tosspot with a camera will descend on the game hoping Van Gaal gets sunk. Some may say it's added incentive , but not in my eyes, it's unwanted attention we could do without.

We need an early goal to really put the pressure on them.

The problem is, we always end up playing the referee as well. Which bent so and so is it this year? I bet it's Oliver - but I hope it's Clattenburg.

This is Stoke we’re talking about, you all know whenever we get our hopes up against a team we should be beating we lose, Just hope for a draw and anything else is a bonus.

This is our players chance to show the world what they can do. The match will be shown throughout the globe, prime time at Christmas, and we are favourites!!!
Will we bottle it? Are we going to start converting all the chances? Is the referee going to be got at by the establishment? (They don't want the top club in the country disgraced on world television.)
We need to have the crowd behind the players 110% from the off.
Diouf has to play for him to show them who they let go IMO, but if MH wants to try the same format again, I'll back his judgement.

Friend is the ultimate 'he favours the big club' referee. Bad for us.

Same team as palace for me, 2-1 win could've been 7-1.

Oh it was DEFINITELY a good match - I particularly enjoyed watching their fans burning their flags on the Stoke End - from the Boothen End. Supreme joy.

"I'd take a 1-0 loss right now. I can't help but feel that Stoke will use us to improve their goal difference and I wouldn't want us to give more than 1 goal to them. Also, it will help protect our own goal difference, should it come to that, at the end of the season. I know his is terribly pessimistic but after predicting wins at our home games (and in us losing/drawing), I have to accept reality."

Were going to miss Geoff's interceptions and play killing on defense for this one. I'd expect them to load the midfield and try to dictate play from there. MVG or Adam will need to step up from the go. The Whelan from the Man Citeh game needs to show up aswell. I'd start Joselu for this one then bring on Diouf mid second half to get in behind. Bojan needs to get forward and create, sometimes he free roams to far backwards in our end and has to think too much. Arnie needs to force the issue on the wing and Afellay has to support from deeper runs into the box. I'd use subs depending on the matches progression. I hope we don't start in that 4-3-3 and not see the movement needed to make it effective. Shaq excelled when we had fluid runs and movement versus citeh. I like many others are growing tired of the 18yrd ring around their box possession game without any benefical outcome.
Joselu (Diouf) Arnie Bojan Shaq Whelan(Adam) Afellay(MVG) Pieters Wollscheid Shawcross Johnson Butland

They are still favourites to win, 5/4 with Uncle Pete while we are 9/4. Not quite the 4/1 we got against Man City but a decent price.

It was a shame that Denis Law had already sent them down a few days before ( a memorable back heel though ) So , it would be great if we put the final nail in one of their managers coffins on Saturday rather than leave that honour to someone else !

The match of the season this one for many reasons, Stoke need goals, LVG needs a win, eyes of the world on us. The crowd need to be as loud as they have ever been, ever. Let us be at our intimidating best!

The United fans I know are not looking forward to it. Says a lot for us really. A couple I have spoke to said they would take a draw now. I don't want to sound over confident but I believe we are playing them at the right time and they are there for the taking. As for the crowd being loud,I think against Man Utd it is a given and no motivation will be needed. GGGOOOAAARRNNN STOKE.

Lot of people are getting a bit too cocky about this game. They are not playing to their potential but they have some great players, on paper they should beat us 90% of the time. Hopefully we will get a result but we aren't scoring many goals, if they get one first we will struggle.
