Hard to see any way forward for Labour following the current fiasco over Syria. What a fucking mess. He's representing the vast majority of his parties view. A very interesting take on it emphasising what an opportunistic turd Cameron is. He is no more committed to a joined up foreign policy than he is trade unions. Corbyn's position is far more consistent, realistic and thoughtful. new.spectator.co.uk/2015/11/jeremy-corbyn-is-more-sensible-about-syria-than-david-cameron/

The Labour careerists voices are becoming quieter and quieter.

The same cannot be said for Corbyn and Labour. This also from the Spectator, Shadow Cabinet members threaten resignations over Syria row in LabourSeems to me Corbyn is hoping that the pressure of Momentum with their mass duplicated emails will cow the PLP. I think he is mistaken.

And let's not forget McDonells ridiculous Little Red Book joke. The official opposition is a joke. Not as big a joke as U-turn Osborne and his mythical tax revenues. Lets focus on the real issues.

Anybody that thinks bombing Syria is going to work is a joke given that there are at least 81 different factions inside the country jockeying for position.

Don't know if anybody saw Holmes interview Osborne but that is what you call a joke.
Repeatedly asked why he allowed the police force go through all the intense lobbying and worrying if he knew there were going to be no cuts. He didn't answer the question once and talked about everything but the truth we wanted to hear, which in my opinion has become a trait far too synonymous with this government. Constant rhetoric that disguises what is actually going on.

This thread is about the Labour Party not the Tories. For all their many faults (the Tories that is) they are sitting pretty just now. Their pitiful chancellor got out of jail yesterday after a monumental fuck up.
Meanwhile Labour implode.
The opposition is the focus of this thread. And it looks like they are in meltdown mode. A shambles. And a disaster for this country.

The problem though is this Government can get away with anything because there isn't any effective opposition.
Anybody that knows anything about the internal position inside Syria knows that bombing Syria the country can ONLY make things worse. There are too many factions fighting each other. How on earth do you differentiate between 81 different factions ffs?
El Nusra linked to All Queda for example are one group opposed to Assad forming part of the Anti Assad umbrella opposition along with numerous Islamic Fundamentalist groupings and former Mujahadeen splinter groups. Then there's the different Kurdish factions..
This is exactly what Corbyn is saying. But the Government think they can solve the Syrian situation by bombing which is just going to drive tens of thousands more into refugee camps and make the situation even worse and create even more Islamic Fundamentalists.
But the Government disagree and most of the Shadow Cabinet disagree with Corbyn. Hence the ness.

It would be interesting to see who Labours voters would turn to in the event they can't rescue anything by the next election.

The vested interests don't want the real debate though and sadly they take a lot of sheep along with them.

Bombing Iraq is what led to ISIL being formed in the first place. Why the fuck would bombing Syria help the situation? What you need is specific targets on the ground to put down not indiscriminate bombing that will inevitably lead to civilian casualties.

There is no more compelling case for bombing Syria now as there was before Paris. There is no greater plan, thought or consideration for the aftermath than there was the last time they voted. Anyone influenced to change their view by a that lying salesman for the vested interests, the Prime Minister, is a Charlatan. Tory or Labour.

But the issue at hand is Labour. Honestly - I think they are a fiasco. I mean, when Len McCluskey is giving you (good) advice you know you are in a bad place. Add to that the stupid stunt with the little red book yesterday. I think the current shambles over Syria will damage them for many a long year.

Bombing Iraq was bad enough but then we really fucked things up by putting a Government in place even more unpopular and sadistic than Sadam Husseins.
And while we were doing that we were allowing the Taliban and War Lords to carve up Afghanistan..because we'd moved most of our troops out of Afghan into Iraq.
Now we're fucking arrogant enough to think we can bomb Syria into submission.
Jesus wept..you just couldn't make it up.
