Exactly!!! Bit like players similar to Michael Tonge in first year of Prem, we may not have used them, they may not be good enough for Starting 11 but they are good insurance policies. But we already have better insurance policies? Ireland? Cameron? Afellay? I agree the 3 you mention are ahead of those I named in my earlier post. My point still stands though that we need cover in depth for potential injuries, suspensions, loss of form, illness, extended cup runs, etc. The club loaned out Huth last January, and it seemed a matter of days before we had so many injured we were scratching around to put out a defence back line, and "everyone" on here was playing merry hell about letting Huth go. We are very thin on players who can play in front of the back 4, and there are constant suggestions of using Cameron and Muniesa there, and PC says they are looking to cover Whelan. MvG has been given an extended trial, but is not convincing. The Catch 22 is if MvG proved successful, he will stay at Chelsea, so we can't win, other than use him as a stop gap. Personally I wish Sidwell had been given all the chances MvG was to prove himself.
