Smalling was ace last season too Bayern, best English centre half right now for me. Agree possibly i.e. Stones, you make a fair point but at the moment he does look excellent I have to say. I'd be tempted to play Stones at right back personally and put the other two in the middle, mixed feelings about Clyne I don't think he was, Man Yoo in general stunk the place out. He's grown a lot this season though and I find that hard to say because I really don't like him! He's not better than Shawcross though. Stones makes way too many mistakes as things stand but he's young and has time to fuck them off. Not that I agree 100% on what you've said there but I feel like I share quite a few views with you in football Bayern. And it scares me

I'm not sure, I'm conscious I used to disagree with lots of your views but in the last year or so I find myself agreeing with you a lot. I'm pretty sure that means something, I just don't have a goddam clue quite what!

Typical that today must have been the first Southampton home game he hasn't attended since he got the job.

I think Ryan has deserved a chance for ages. But it clearly isn't going to happen. That's just the way it is. We should just let it go.

Interesting that the MOTD post match analysis (such as it is) picked up on Ryan's return. Although the conclusion they reached was a bit strange - Stoke's defence since Shawcross came back is excellent, but prior to that it was pretty darn good (in terms of goals conceded). Perhaps the big difference is really the amount of saves Butland needs to make.
Maybe the message is getting through. A benediction from Shearer and co. suggests the establishment is now behind our skipper.

Grates me that his name isn't sung week in week out but Muniesa's is. Bloke is a Stoke City legend. R R R Ryan Shawcross, He plays for city with Charlie and Arnie... Sort of works a bit....

I think there is more in this Arsenal mafia bollocks than we realize. No man in his right mind can ignore his form over the last two years, his return has galvanized our team. Bloke is a fantastic defender & leader.

It's never going to happen. And while we're on the subject, another clean sheet for Jack (against Woys beloved Southampton) on the day Hart concedes 4.... That's Butland fucked then !!

Our form since Ryan's return is proof that he is genuinely superhuman and our duty as his protectors is a bit like Elliot in ET.
We must do our best to hide him and keep him safe from the authorities (Woy and Ingerland).
Maybe we can disguise him as a woman for the next game?

Ryan's Mrs must bollock him every time she does the washing.
It must be a right ball ache for her having to empty his pockets before his clothes hit the washing machine.
Once again he departed another premier league ground with a striker tucked firmly away in his pocket.

The sign of a genuine star player is the way he can influence and improve players around him. His return is the main reason why Wolly has improved and suddenly we have stopped making daft defensive mistakes.I have no idea why Woy can see more quality in Jones rather than Ryan. Smalling is now the main man at the back and fair play to him he has improved hugely but the options next to him are not great Jones I don't rate and Cahill Jagielka are on the wane. Maybe there is still a chance but I think Woy has made his mind up about Ryan.

The upturn in Franz' form has improved Ryan beyond levels he was at previously.
They are fastly becoming a formidable pairing.

Stones. Smalling. Cahil. Jagialka. Ryan is better than all of them put together. It's a national disgrace the way he's been treated by Hodgson

Quite simply the best centre back in the Premier League and I'll argue it until the cows come home.
The fact he has only one international cap is beyond reason and ridiculous in the extreme.

It's a national disgrace the way he's been treated by Hodgson I think Stones is a good player and will probably become even better. Smalling has improved beyond all recognition this year. But Shawcross is way better than any of the other dross Hodgson persists with. Shawcross, Smalling and Stones should be the centre half squad members. The fact that Shawcross doesn't even get a shout in the friendlies says everything about Woy's mindset. I know for the recent friendlies Shawcross had only just come back from an injury but then so had Delph, in fact he'd had far less game time than Ryan but surprise surprise he's straight back in the team, not just the squad(think he had about 20 minutes as a sub).

Once again he departed another premier league ground with a striker tucked firmly away in his pocket. I'm pretty sure hard man Diego only escaped last Thursday. Ryan looked for his wallet and found this tough little Chelsea striker still in there. Scored yesterday but pretty sure he has nightmares about the Britannia. Greasy Pelle is another name to the Shawcross back pocket list.

She was even more pissed off when, after the washing machine started to make an alarming rattling noise, she opened that little door at the front and Diego Costa came flooding out.

Smelling has been a flash in the pan after several years of mediocrity. Stones, whilst decent, didn't warrant the fervour in the summer. Shawcross has superbly captained the club year on year and been a rock solid defender to boot, continuing to have the world's best strikers in his arse pocket. The less said about Cahill and Jagielka the better.
