The Dutch footie fans I was speaking to didn't seem to rate him when we first signed him. But, then, they were Ajax fans, and they probably diss all players from any other club. They diss their own players more .........sounds a bit familiar dunt it !!!!

Bit late isn't it? The Fuckers should have called him up when they were trying qualify!
Still, hopefully he won't get dropped as soon as the meaningful games start again.

Well deserved. Hope his broken nose doesn't stop him from playing next weekend. Anyone know if he is being fitted with a mask for the next few games? He won't let that stop him playing That's pretty obvious. That's why players wear masks to enable them to play before the injury heals fully. I'm interested in knowing whether he is being fitted with a mask.

He's been our best defender by an absolute mile this season and this is fully deserved.
Fantastic player.

Wasn't entirely convinced by his defensive ability, but he's won me round this season. Really impressed by his improvement and determination.

I'm sure many will agree that we don't have nearly enough songs with a nice chilled out reggae vibe. And given some folk need to learn how to slow down with there singing anyway the tune for Erik has to be pass the dutchie on the left hand side. Appropriate for all sorts of reasons Erik Pieters on the left handside Pass to Arnie on the left handside Etc.

Great to see him getting a little of the recognition he so richly deserves.
Still think "Erik The Duchie on our Left hand side" works.

He's an excellent left back and one of the better ones in the league in my opinion, but what really endears him to me is how appreciative he is of the support. He's normally always one of the last players to go down the tunnel after he's made his way around the pitch to applaud the support.
Top, top guy.

Top guy, last player to leave the pitch every game, always does a lap of the pitch.
Also like how he celebrates a big goal saving tackle, get the feeling he just loves tackling an defending!
And as for a song, I always get the urge to chant "Eric's gonna get ya!" over and over, to the tune of the Adidas (Ithink) Bellys gonna get u advert!

Ruud Gullit said on Goals on Sunday that the reason the Dutch failed to qualify for the Euros was they had forgotten about defending. Great going forward but the defence had played second fiddle in Hiddink's side after Van Gaal left. It was time in Gullit's opinion to start from the back and get a decent defensive unit together then go on to the rest of the team. Maybe somebody listened to him?

Pieters came to Stoke with a bad boy reputation. We were led to believe we were signing a bit of a liability but he's turned out to be a superb talent and very low maintenance. Has to be one of the most consistent players at the club. As someone said earlier, he's a real warrior on the pitch and never fails to be the last man off it after his customary lap applauding every single Stoke fan in the ground. A model pro who fully deserves his call up to the Holland squad. Question.... Would he get into the current England team ? I'd say yes, without a doubt.

England are actually well stocked for left backs (unlike centre backs) Pieters is better than Gibbs. Shaw & Baines are injured so he might get in
