Compliment accompanied by not a small dose of arrogance! Of course, just come and help yourselves! We really dont mind if you use him as a stop gap until they find someone decent at the end of season.

I've said it a few times this season....and been shit-ripped for it by a few. In his position and of his type there's few better. IMO he'd easily fit into most top half teams.....and improve several!! A player at the top of his game.

He does a role nearly every premier league midfielder should be able to do to that level competently in my view.
The difference is Glenn has the discipline to do it while 90% of others don't.
I'm happy with his performances this season so far but in my eyes his positional sense is still quite poor. He is back there but still not in the right defensive position when we are without the ball a lot of the time.
As an Irish fan I notice him a lot in our qualifiers. McCarthy constantly had to supplement him in games because of this flaw. It was no coincidence McCarthys best game in an Irish jersey was in Whelans absence.
Also feel his job has got a little easier this year because our players in front of him strike fear into other teams and teams playing us have been forced back to sit back a bit more.
That all said, he gives 100% every week, is a positive impact on the team and doing a good job so far.

Glenn Whelan was outstanding today.
From the moment he left the pitch on 65 minutes we were destined to lose.
The penalty was clearly the wrong decision, he got 100% of the ball as he always does with a sexy precise challenge.
When he left the field we were lacking in much important overall physical attractiveness. The players heads dropped, and so did my erection.

Whelan was just not in it today. Bad decisions all around... rightly subbed but Walters for him was not what we needed. We need off the ball movement and runs and diouf is our main guy for that.

Apart from the penalty, which was unlike him, Whelan was fine today. The usual suspects with agendas against him rear their heads when he is ever so slightly off form

Whelan is on 4 yellows and as he wasn't booked for their penalty, it means he is available for the Man Utd game!
Sensible substitution by Hughes imo
He was more effective last week, with Cameron playing in the middle - I thought that Van Ginkel was OK - Affelay MOTM imo

Cameron, Whelan and Afellay work as a trio and deserve to get the nod against Man Utd. And Afellay was my MOTM as well - some of his passes are sublime. I can't think of a better passer at Stoke than Afellay for a long long time - after a slow start when we signed him he is looking like a great bit of business - and the centre is his natural home these days even if he was a good wide player before injuries took their toll.

Wasn't it a positive tactical substitution by sparky to commit to all out attacking play ?

It's all my fault guys I'm sorry. I spiked Glenn with rohypnol this morning in attempt to seduce him.
But the effects didn't kick in until far after I expected.
As a result of this he tried to shag the player and gave away a penalty. Don't blame sexual Whelan, blame me.
I heard him shout "get over here now you sexy cunt" to Scott Dann.
Shortly after this he had to be substituted before his sexual feelings escalated out of control completely.
