I wonder if first team football in the Championship will still make the stadium appeal...

How great will that stadium look when its half full, hosting Championship football? Still better than ours with the corners filled in.

I never buy this guaranteed first team football bollocks, what sensible PL club would offer that? None, but we aren't sensible at all!

If we filled the corners in and Villa got jealous, would they just not fill their corners in?

Villa are paying this lad £75K. Really?
Absolutely unfriggingbelievable! The world has gone mental.
That is the kind of deal that "blows us out of the water".
I hope for their sake they have built in relegation clauses.

Well this backs up UKYT's consistent argument and train of thought. Perhaps he's not as pickled as he appears to be.

So many rumours about this one, some say he's on 75k which sounds way to much for The Villa to pay a kid with potential, another is he's on 45k which could rise to 75k on apperances which is why he ain't getting in the side, again I doubt this is true, the stadium story sounds like marcotti has a vivid imagination as looking at VP which is rarely full these days against the Nou Camp makes it look somewhat doubtful, the truth is probably he's been told go to England show us what you can do and we'll get you back same as fabregas. Mind you with the clowns in charge at VP god knows, the pantomime continues

F**k all to do with facilities then.
I doubt if Stoke would've negotiated a wage rise on relegation!

No way on this earth did we offer a kiddie we couldn't offer regular football to 80 grand a week. Precisely. We never offered anywhere near the money he is on at Villa. He went to Villa for the money. That's it. To be fair to Villa they got this deal dumped on them by Tim "I have no control over players" Sherwood. Crazy stupid deal.

It should also act as a salutary lesson to some of the more mentally challenged on here who think it's piss easy to sign players. When you've got agents negotiating a wage rise for a 19 year old kiddie if his club gets relegated then the mind boggles at what some of the players suggested on this board over the past few seasons would demand.

It's really unbelievable as to what has happened to the Villa in house. For a club that have so much experience of how to do things properly, off the football pitch, they have truly fucked up in that department. It's like having a blocked drain in your kitchen and then deciding to buy a new sink to solve the problem. Madness.

Maybe he also has an increase to £5m for relegation to League One?
He's hardly incentivised to try, is he!

It won't be a wage rise for relegation, just an annual increase. most of us will get about 1% in the current situation, his is 50%

Who the hell was running the Villa when this deal was done?
This is a deal on the same level as the give away Boris Johnson and the clowns at LLDC did with WHU.

Dreadful business but this is just an automatic second year raise based on the new TV deal isn't it. Presumably Villa didn't want to mention relegation clauses knowing other clubs were after him.
Anyone reckon Shaqiri's got a relegation clause in his contract?

We could surely get him now if Villa are cutting the wage bill, and it was said at the time that we had offered 75k a week, but whether that was true I know not.

You've got to hand it to The Villa they really know how to piss us, their fans off It's only Wednesday and its shaping up to be the week from hell ! 1. Relegation 2. Flabby and lescotts antics 3. Up to 500 staff to be laid off 4. Two recently appointed board members resign citing differences with Lerner 5. Trinity Road upper to be closed next season to " improve the atmosphere" 6. Extra disabled seating platforms to be put in the asbo end I really worry about the future of The Villa and am increasingly becoming embarrassed that I joined in with all the anti Doug stuff, hindsight is a wonderful thing eh UTV
