I've spent the last 27 years working in castles, mansion houses, churches, derelict farms, abandoned military installations, former hospitals, lunatic asylums and workhouses, sometimes on my own, and I can honestly say that I have never had a single experience that I would class as paranormal. I have however been shit scared as a result of unexpected encounters with druggies, cable thieves and potential arsonists.
In my experience, it's the living who cause all the problems, not the dead. I keep an open mind about the other stuff though.

This is total 100% genuine. Not only did I experience it, the Mrs did too so it wasn't a dream.
We moved into a rented house maybe 5yrs ago, it was totally empty apart from a huge couch and a massive TV that the owners left. It was quite a big detached house so obviously no neighbours nor couldn't hear nothing either because the distance between the houses.
We got woken up by an old sounding musical toy going off. (We have no kids) what was our bedroom.
Between 2am and 2:30am, we had a knock on our bedroom door, like you would get on your front door, then heard kids running and laughing. Our dog at the time ran to the door.
That is just two things that happened within a 2 week period to the point where we left. Got loads more that happened at the same house but don't want bore you readers.
Like I say, that is 100% genuine first hand experience .

The bang was a picture we hung that fell off the wall, nothing wrong in that, but the picture was touching the opposite wall to where it was hung, didn't bother to move the picture, answered the door nobody there, re-hung the picture, door went off again, delivery driver there, asked if he had rang it only seconds earlier and he said no. No body was anywhere near the house. Again, loads more, but don't wanna bore you all.

As I said it was a detached house and it was totally empty other than a tv & couch. Around 4 / 4:30 am we both got woken by a phone ringing, the old type of ring, can get them on a mobile I know, but neither me or the mrs had that as a ringtone. We didn't have a landline.
Went to go out one morning, always kept my keys on the dining table, they weren't there, I stood at the table, shouting to the mrs asking where she had moved them, she came walking to me saying they are on the table, clearly seeing they weren't, she walked one way to look I walked the other way into seperste rooms, couldn't find them, decided not bother and just use the Mrs key's, at the same time we walked from opposite rooms back to the dining table and they were there, nothing else was on the table

Had to walk past our spare room to get to the main bedroom, spare bed was always made, got up one morning walked past the spare room and noticed the covers on the bed had a been raised slightly so the bed didn't look like it was made, thought the Mrs may have had a bad night and went sleep in there, anyway when she got up, I asked her, she swore blind she hadn't been in the room the night previous

We had 3 pictures in the bedroom above the window, only the cheaply sort, got up in the morning, the Mrs had a lay in, she got up, everything was fine, she went back to get ready after breakfast and the middle picture of the 3 was being held on the corner of the frame.
The outside light would come on, the landing light would turn it self off before you got across the landing.
Got to the point where went to the local vicar asked him to come and talk to us in the house, he point blank refused.
I'd find it hard reading this and believing it, but it's all 100% true.
Had to leave, it was horrendous.

We have had some strange experiences in our current house, and the previous one as well.
We frequently have things going missing, and after my wife and myself have both searched everywhere for them they have reappeared in their original places the following morning, or in the middle of the main worktop in the kitchen. Some times we also both hear footsteps on the stairs and landing during the night, and there is one wardrobe in a spare room which we often find with the door open. At first we thought it may have been a faulty catch but after it happening several times I added another fixing, but the door still opens on occasion.
The strangest one is that my shower gel which is kept on a shelf in the shower is sometimes found placed upright in the middle of the bath about 6 feet away.

Come on let's here your happenings?? The most recent one was the other night. I went to bed & left my lady downstairs watching TV. I lifted the bog seat up and sat down to have a no.1, washed my hands, brushed teeth & then went to bed. My lady was up not long after & asked why I'd lifted both toilet seats up. I was 100% sure I'd only lifted the top seat up. I said it must be the 'ghost' but she said it was me not realising what I'd done.

a few of us did a ouija board in HMS Nelson, Portsmouth about 1980, I thought somebody was pushing the glass around so I asked it to spell my mums maiden name, and it did, a couple of others got a bit shitted up about it as well and we threw the glass out of the window, 10 stories up. My dad saw the top half of somebody sitting in a chair in my first house in Sandyford, told the neighbours about it and it looked like somebody who had lived there about 20 years ago, I never felt comfortable in there. My sisters have been visited and spoken to by one of my dads old friends. Just after my dad died a couple of years ago, I was in a hotel down south with work and my mobile phone just moved and fell off the desk in the room onto the floor, it wasn't near the edge either, weird. Didn't they knock a house down in Sandyford a few years ago because everyone who lived there claimed it was haunted?

How come these ghosts always hang around in boring places like creepy old castles, spooky country lanes, or leaning on the bannister in some old house. They're never sitting next to a river having a beer on a nice summers day, or standing on the Boothen at 3pm Saturday. Haha yeah, almost as if the person themselves might be in a particular frame of mind at the time of the 'visitation'! Ghosts never turn up at birthday parties or on a hen night or in the middle of Eurovision do they, weird that.

I dont know about that, but it has been knocked down, it was up opposite an old blacksmiths I think it was just below the shop on the corner and befor the old Yeomans motors it was on the left as you are heading toward Tunstall it may have been a corner house.

Friend of my dad's house is haunted, had lots of unexplained things happen. Often when he gets up in the morning realises that pictures hung on the walls have switched places and light bulbs have been taken out the fittings and placed intact directly underneath on a tiled floor. It doesn't bother him and his wife as they have lived in the house 30 years.....in fact they have named it!!

When we signed for the house, the owners mother said have you told them about the ghost. They didn't. We thought she was saying it for a laugh. Clearly wasn't. The owner finally admitted to us after we moved out that his wife never stayed in the house alone and they knew about the hauntings. They have tried to rent or sell the house for years, even now it's still available. No one stays in it for long.

When I was a school kid in the 1980s I loved listening to my Tape Deck in bed with my earphones on. My old mum would walk into my room in the dark, press the stop button, then three seconds back to the light switch and light on and a gentle ticking off. After she died when I was 16, one night,my tape deck stopped itself (not a power cut), a three second gap, then the light switched itself on. I've never really known what to make of it.

Something strange happened again yesterday. I'm convinced my house is haunted. Every time I'm on my day shifts I shut my lads bedroom door whilst I have my shower in the bathroom. My son is only 8 months old. Before I left the house, I switched off all the lights in the house. When I got in from work yesterday the Mrs asked why I'd opened his bedroom door & left the downstairs light on Spooky!

for many years I have worked in the civic hall in middlewich, this is split into 2 parts, the original Victoria Building, built in the 1700's and the newer part built in the 60's
it is one weird place
it was originally the court house and many people were sentenced to death in what is now the council chamber, this room does not fit into the building somehow and is the shape of a coffin, I kid you not
I have been chased from there many times at night when locking up by what feels a malevolent force, yet at other times I am followed by another force that does not feel threatening
one night as me and another caretaker locked up the alarm went off and we looked back in just in case somebody had been left inside, we saw nothing except a stack of tables had been slung across the room, there was no way they could have fallen in that way
another night I saw a pale figure walk past my office door
the cleaners used to go in early in the morning and one day were in the council chamber and heard a bang like a large set of keys being dropped on desks but neither of them were anywhere near where the noise came from, more than likely the sound of a chain from a bound prisoner, they refused for years to go back alone and only came in when other staff were in
another of my colleagues works at Congleton town hall and they have video evidence of a small child like apparition appearing in the main hall
yet bizarrely my main base of Sandbach Town Hall which is an equally old building has no supernatural goings on

Some fascinating accounts, which after my experiences, I find very plausible. I think until you have such an experience, its perfectly understandable to be sceptical.

A woman who I work with has had experiences happen at her house. It doesn't bother her at all. Things like she's heard wardrobe doors opening and closing. After hearing this, then finding the doors fully open. Their CD player won't play a certain CD of theirs, it keeps on ejecting it, but if her fella plugs his earphones in, then it plays with no issue.
Her fella works away a couple of days a week, she was on her own one day, luckily for her returned to the kitchen only to find her gas being on, on the cooker with no flame.
She had a family BBQ a few years ago, one of her guests approached my friend asking who the lady was in the living room as not seen her before. So from that named her.
Fast forward to this Monday, my friend has 3 grandkids, the middle one who's around 3/4 yrs old now, is totally unaware of this ghost, said to his nan, my friend, that him and his younger brother get looked after and played with by "and said the name of the ghost that my friend named her" and he knows nothing of this.
