Saturday was a sobering realisation that Joselu falls a liitle short in the great scheme of things. Good ability and a good first touch but always seems on his heels instead of his toes. Doesn't seem to be an out and out striker and plenty ahead of him in the withdrawn striker role. Not sure where he fits to be honest.

I actually don't think he's a decent footballer but I don't think he's a centre forward. It's no coincidence he hasn't even looked like scoring because he's never in the positions of a natural centre forward. I know he hasn't had that many minutes but how many shots has he actually had? He's always coming deep or floating outside probably better playing in the hole but he's even further down the pecking order for that position.

Not in my opinion, on Saturday the substitutions showed a massive difference in our starting eleven, skill wise that is and we looked poorer for them coming on. Hughes has created a massive problem for himself and us, in a very positive way that is. biscuit, we all know it's you

I'd rather trust the judgement of LMH than any of the critics on here. If nothing else, he'll know a good striker - or at least someone with potential - when he sees one, surely? He won't be the first Hughes signing to take a while to get the hang of the Prem. I give you Bojan, Odemwingie, Shaquiri, Wollscheid and Affelay, all of whom have been given pelters on here by some uninformed idiots before their feet had even touched the ground. FFS, give the bloke a chance.

I am not sure what depresses me more - Joselu bashing threads or the fact I have to make a comment like this on every single one.
The guy is a very good player and he's shown it to any straight thinking fan. Just leave him be.

Well its looking like Joselu is joining the likes of Diouf, Bojan,Wooly and Affelay in being written off before barely kicking a ball in anger.
He may not be a success but as per the above at least allow him time and judge him if and when he gets a run of games.
Sparky has clearly seen something in the lad....and he should know a thing or two about strikers !

I'd play him boxing day,he'll make the ball stick/allow Bojan and pals space to play in.
Think he will link up really well with Bojan.

On the few outings he has had he seems more set up to play in away games. The home games he is behind play and not in the box. Lets hope the hat trick proves he has found his scoring touch and confidence when called upon - WBA away and Doncaster.

Looks like he might not be Stoke fit? Criminally under used big man with finesse like Graziano Pelle, he'll become Crouch's replacement. He and Bojan just click.

So scoring a hat-rick in an under 21 game now makes him ready to start in the Prem does it ? He probably scores 50 goals in every training session. There's a world away from doing it in those games and in the 1st team.
A player like him needs to make an impact when he gets a chance and so far he's failed to do so.That's why he's not playing ahead of Walters and Diouf

A player like him needs to make an impact when he gets a chance and so far he's failed to do so.That's why he's not playing ahead of Walters and Diouf No, of course an Under 21 hat trick doesn't make a player ready for a Prem start. However it isn't a bad way to show the boss that you might be worth a go. After all, Diouf only scored 1 in the same game and Wingie hasn't scored in the couple of U21 games he has had since he returned from injury. I always feel a bit sorry for strikers who get cameo appearances and no or few starts in the first team. Some players take a while to get used to the pace of a game and constant sub appearances near the end don't give them that chance. It is easier for an experienced player like Crouch - he always looks as likely to score in the last few minutes as the first few - but he has bags of experience in this league - Joselu doesn't. Hopefully Hughes will have seen enough to give Joselu a start soon - even if it is not on saturday.

Anyone whos watched these development games will know they are nowhere near whats required for the premier league. Its nothing to get too carried away about imo.

Given we have one of our biggest games in our history coming up there is an argument to play Joselu with Walters and Diouf at Albion. Bojan and pals on the bench Adam and MVG too Maybe Bardsley and Wilson too
