If you're into a bit of Deep House, Techno, Electronica, Future Soul etc. you might be interested in the new show I've started on 6 Towns Radio.
It's called The Friday Pharmacy and goes out live every Friday (obviously!) 9pm - 11pm.
The first show was broadcast last night.
A recording of it can be found in full (minus the ads) here, if you're interested.

Just on the periphery of my own tastes, Paul but that is one hell of a playlist.
I'll certainly be keeping an eye on it.
Good luck with it.

With the scene being so strong at the moment, the hardest thing is working out what not to play!

Brill Paul. Enjoyed that. Way off my radar, made me realize how far out of the loop I am with this kind of stuff. Particularly liked Polynation and Mason. I'll investigate those a bit further. Hopefully you'll post this each week. Good luck with it.

Thanks Mr. Freeex.
Ha ha - my wife said the Mason track was the best track in the show, that bass is ridiculous! It's the seventh release in his Nite Rite series but the other six aren't up to the same standard in my opinion. The Polynation track is excellent, it sounds to me like a lot of it might have been recorded live, it has the feel of a band to me.
I really appreciate the listen.
Cheers

I was really into the early Warp stuff and then Luke Vibert, Mike Paradinas, Squarepusher and all the Global Communications, Clear Records artists, off-shoots and various labels and guises. I've never really dabbled in the more soulful angle, always preferring Two Lone Swordsman, and then Venetian Snares, Skam, Morr Music, Expanding, CityCentreOffices more experimental and awkward electronica type releases. I tended to like the instrumental Drum and Bass, like Dj Shadow, Aquasky, etc. I used to read Jockey Slut, DJ and visit Warp in Sheffield, Boomkat, Baked Goods, Vinyl Exchange in Manchester, but I lost touch. I never really moved on from about 2005 in terms of my electronica tastes but more recently I've been listening to youtube mixes of minimal techno sets from Acid Pauli, H.O.S.H, Nightmares on Wax and Solomun. Have you seen any of them? There's a fantastic segment from around 1hr13mins in the Solomun Boiler Room set: A minimal bass track bleeds into a Cure track, it's great, any ideas what the tracks are? If you get the chance have a scan I'd love to know. I enjoyed the show, I like having another musical window opened, even if I do have a lady's taste in techno! Are you spinning vinyl?

Wow that's all a bit spooky - I've got Aquaksy, HOSH and an Acid Pauli remix (of Haltough - which is incredible) all lined up for next weeks show.
Solomum is one of my favourite DJ's, I've probably seen his Boiler Room set but can't remember the specifics, I'll check it out and see if I know what that track is.
Nope everything's digital at the moment.

Are you doing any guest mixes and things?
Yes ultimately for sure, hopefully.
For the time being, the 120 minutes I've got is proving to be particularly restrictive, as there is just so much great stuff being released at the moment, meaning that some tunes aren't even going to get a play.
For the forthcoming shows I'm having to restrict myself to one play and one play only, there simply isn't/won't be any space available for re-spins, regardless of the quality of the tune.
Cheers

The really spooky thing is that you made me go back and look at Solomun's Boiler Room set and two records before the point in his set where you queried, he played Tout Vas Bien by Matthias Mayer, which was the only 'old' track I played in my inaugural radio set on 6 Towns last Friday.
Pretty weird ...

Cheers Paul. I love the second hour of the Solomun set {until it starts getting all 'horny horny horny'} Looking forward to this friday's show.
Do you buy much from Global Groove? I havn't been in for ages, would I be likely to get the Solomun stuff in there?

I used to supply Global Groove back in the early 90's.
They only deal is second hand stuff now and have done so for quite a few years, the number of shops dealing in new vinyl now are extremely limited.
A lot of vinyl nowadays is limited run only as you can see here: www.juno.co.uk/search/?q%5Bartist%5D%5B%5D=%22solomun%22&hide_forthcoming=0
But of course digital is always an option: www.junodownload.com/search/?q%5Bartist%5D%5B%5D=%22solomun%22

I've had another couple of listens to last weeks show Same here. Listened to last weeks a couple of times and only up to track 3 so far this week but absolutely superb, Paul. I sense a growing reputation for this show. The Pharmacy has hit the zeitgeist in Cheeesworld. I lost interest in techno/electro/dance {or whatever} with the advent of too much Dubstep {and with me not bothering with Clubs}. So I hadn't heard anything new since about 2005. But over the summer I started to listen to the Boiler Room sessions, minimal techno, it got me going back to Underground Resistance and the Mephisto Label Q-Bert's Abstract Message, funk driven stuff. Paul's Show has dropped at just the right time. It's good music to break out into a cooking dance to, and an education. The show seems to be rubbing shoulders with Thomas Schumaker on the Soundcloud thing, a good place to be on the grid, no doubt.

One of the most beautiful tracks and brilliant remixes I've heard in a while.
