linkLooks like he moved at the right time. Did he and his wife split up over the incident or are they still together? I notice the paper describes him as being "of Hale Barnes" - does he still have his house in Cheshire?

also makes you wonder if this made it a lot easier for the club to allow him to move on!

Someone (can't recall who) told me about the reason for him not making the awards dinner a few days after it happened. Then, hearing no more, I presumed she had not pressed charges.

Totally. In fact it makes our stance over the fee even braver than it looked given the circumstances.

I appreciate what you are saying - but I'd like to hear Benjie's opinion before I decide whether to agree with you!

Bit of a nawty-rood-boi is our ex-Frenchie oh well we don't have to worry about it now i did like his comment in a Sentinel article when he left saying he hoped he enjoyed it as much there as he did here...by that i'm guessing he'll put in a transfer request in January and then Sevilla won't need to worry about it either

Im sure this will have figured in Nzonzi's decision to leave the club and get out of the country.
At the time the management team were still hopeful of getting him to sign a new contract.
But getting arrested, charged and having his marriage break-up you can imagine he was suddenly ready to get the hell out of England, to start somewhere afresh.
Maybe he was intending of staying with Stoke until all this happened??

I didn't know about this, certainly adds a slightly different perspective to his transfer from both his and the clubs point of view.

Are we now justifying our transfer business via the medium of domestic right handers. That's a new one.

And that's no saying what he did isn't wrong and doesn't make him a complete and utter twatbox, it does and he is.

My point was that he seemed to be overall, an utter twat. Hitting his wife wasn't the first time old Steve had been a cock.
