Just thinking about how much it costs to put on a prem match ?? forget the players wages etc. to open the ground, lights, staff, road management, stewards, shop, groundsmen, catering, cleaning, the list must be endless really....

The policing bill is a big amount and can vary vastly from game to game depending on how many officers they deem is needed to police the game.

Not sure about now but I think you only used to pay for police inside the ground, those outside are paid for by council or however.

The Police one is interesting - is there some sort of independent committee on this - to prevent the Police saying you need 10,000 coppers and each one is £1,000 and basically adding to their coffers at the expense of footie fans (I know anything SCFC pay reduces general tax burden, but you get my point)

Ticket sales, refreshments and club shop sales at Stoke must come in at something like £550,000 gross profit per game. If you take off the costs of staging it - not counting staff wages - I reckon half of that disappears. Without the TV money, Stoke would seriously struggle to make any kind of profit.
