Saturday was Stoke's 370th 1-0 win in the Football League. Yep...I've been sad enough to check how many 1-0 wins there have been in our history. For any other saddos out there, you can thank me later for this...Any guesses who has scored the most winning goals in 1-0 victories for Stoke (before you read the article!)?

Any idea how that compares with other teams?

You'd have more correct answers if you asked which season we recorded the most 1-0 wins in. Sorry if I've just taken this thread in a direction you didn't want it to go.

There is something satisfying about the 1-0 away win.

Any idea how that compares with other teams? Now that's a challenge!! No I don't, but probably relatively average!

I would have to guess it is a player who played under pulis, as we rarely scored more than 1 when he was here. I will go for Fuller.

Leicester was a good day for the obvious reason, but you needed to be at County that day when the home ground was almost overtaken by the away fans, and the pitch invasion at the end will live in memory for those that were there, forever!!! Sorry mate, I'm just sounding like I'm rubbing it in a little now!!!

A very interesting read as ever Knowles. I'd be interested in seeing what the 1-0 wins calculate as a percentage of the managers total wins. I'd hazard a guess that Pulis would come out on top, McGrory second & Waddo third?

Yeah but Fuller only played for us for a relatively short time and scored relatively few goals... more likely to be someone like big John.

Although I've moved house since then, I assume that little bit of Meadow Lane turf I hacked out that day is still pushing up grass even now.

I've never understood why teams try to win by more than one goal. It is just a waste of effort.

There was a spell in 95/96 season when we kept winning 1-0 with deflected goals by Gleghorn.

My first game was a 1-0 win. Home to Spurs, April 1974. Scorer - John Ritchie.
Sorted me out for life!
