If we had won our games against the Baggies and Leicester we'd have had 14 points and been 6th now. And we would have been equal on points with West Ham and Leicester who would have been 4th and 5th respectively. I'm not saying we have been hard done by or deserve any more points - I think we are about where we deserve to be. But a silly lack of discipline by two players against the Baggies and a failure of game management against Leicester has cost us what (I think) would have been our best start since we reached the Premier League. This is a league of fine margins - especially so this season. here is the table

It wunner bother me though as Benjie will have had me banned for over optimism by then!

Many of us shinig beacons of optimism, stranded in the sea of biscuitry, have been saying similar things since August, LP. Leicester was par for the course at this stage of the season, so I can afford to be philosophical about that one, but the Baggies game put the real downer on our start. If we had just won that one, and we would have done with eleven men, the complexion of our season would have been completely different.

People assume we would have won the WBA game with 11 men or even 10 men but that was no certainty as TP knows how to organize a defence so just adding 3 pts to our total so far is being too presumptive. We are where we deserve to be as we have only played well in short spells and without Jack we would be in the bottom 3.Saw a stat on sky sports that showed we had conceded the joint most shots on target on our goal with Sunderland & Chelsea, that said it all about our start to the season.I'm just relieved we're starting to pull away from the bottom.

He'd organised them that well we were slicing them open regularly, bit like with them and Palace yesterday getting battered for 90mins seldom ends well.

No football game is a "certainty" but in that game West Brom looked poor from kick off and continued to look poor even after they were facing 9 men. In short, until we lost Afellay and Adam we were bossing the game and in the second half we looked the better side. I'm not someone who wishes hopes TP's teams do badly and I admired what he did at Palace and the work he did in saving West Brom from relegation last season. But this season's West Brom are not up to the mark and given our performances against other lower half teams this season (Bournemouth and Villa) the odds are that we would have won our game against West Brom with some ease had we not gone down to 9 men thanks to the lack of professionalism of two of our players. Normally, we struggle more than we should against teams in the bottom half - that does not seem to be a failing this season - at least not when we have 11 men on the pitch.

We've been patchy so far and are still looking ok (not good, just ok) points wise. Proves to me that we are in no danger of relegation, and when the consistency comes (it will), we will fly. A draw at least at Swansea, and a win v Watford, and another clean sheet - if not 2 - will have us back on track.

Top class sport is about extremely fine margins between success and failure - that is exactly why I went so aggressively about a certain Stoke city player going out on loan yesterday
there is simply No room for passengers
no room whatsoever
and I'm a moron (apprantly) for saying so

This is a league of fine margins - especially so this season. here is the table We were playing quite nicely in spells and would have beaten the baggies with 11 or even 10, could easily have taken a point or 3 against Liverpool, should have had the Leicester game killed off by half time but there again really deserved nothing from the Norwich game, got lucky with poor game management by the Spurs manager and could easily have dropped a point or 3 against a very poor Bournemouth side. All in all we just need to start playing for the full 90 to see results improve. Never been worried for a minute or cock a hoop we're still a team playing below our potential. If/when we fully click we'll be a very entertaining team to watch. Happy Days.
