the year they won the league the year they brought thousands....came on the pitch at the final whistle....that's when the fences were up...obviously stoke went on to greet them..and saw them off the pitch Was that the year Villa were all in the Bull & Bush early doors and the Under 5's went up there for a wander and got battered by them? I wouldn't go that far fella! The initial row was with about 40 villa who were outside The Phoenix, then to make things worse the 12 or so of us who had wandered up for a look had the bull and bush empty on us. Nobody ran (we couldn't!) but it was distinctly "on top"! My jacket was slashed down the back. A respected poster off here took some photo's that day that i still have , it shows a very thin Stoke line holding their own. Villa brought an enormous firm that day, as the villa lad on this thread has stated they caused mayhem in that 87 season, they went everywhere.

From memory, a fair few of the young lads ended up at the North Staffs getting patched up, some who made it back for the match and then got involved in that after match party.

Villa the year they won the league brought hordes in town, the only team to my knowledge to have the Wheatsheaf pre match I forget what year but probably around 81 .They also brought thousands in the 70s with their balloons lol,who can foget the large Villa mini bus in town obliterated that day .87 was lively in town also. As for their place they had several visits from us in the Holt pub and in there seats early and mid 80s8, one of ours threw the gas im sure .Think he was on leave from the army. Times change just the way it was back then.

If I remember correctly, one of ours was thrown through or against a plate glass window and was messed up pretty bad. Villa were on form before the game, Stoke were disoraganised and separated into too small numbers to compete. I wasn't at the Phoenix shindig, but after the game down London Road with smaller even numbers Villa were thoroughly hammered and run ragged. A couple of their vans were properly trashed and the occupants weren't very keen to come back and inspect their rentals, despite plenty of encouragement.

Ill take your word on that Senor lol and stand corrected. To be honest its so hard to remember accurately were talking 30 odd years ago ,some memorys are vivid others seem to drift in and out. I once had trouble sleeping one night trying to decipher one Luton trip from another and still not cracked it after someone asked me whether it was a cup game, first game of the season or last game of the season. We me seemed to be down there every other week lol. I know i went Villa twice in their seats mid 80s i reckon.I was sure you were there for one of those trips.I remember well you getting off the bus regularly with your military bag. Anyway back to normal sleep mode before we get thrown off the board for discussing this sort of thing. ??? Keep well my friend.

Bit of a myth that mate, the lad in question has lived off that story for many years, he didn't go "through the window" per se but did get pummelled against it lol. I saw the silly bugger on Saturday. He was still on about it then ffs.

Some people just don't understand that football really did used to be the working mans game, not the sanitised sky generation that it is today, and if that involved a little violence along the way, then so be it. If you preferred to turn your back on that, it want that difficult to avoid, i know what era I preferred, I'll never apologise for it either.

I don't miss having to avoid the violence whatsoever I don't miss not being able to wear colours at many away games I don't miss any of that. Maybe it was different in the 60's & 70's but football violence in the 80's was utter misery for everyone who wan't directly involved.

I remember getting a blow job in an old Allegro in the early 80s somewhere off London Road. All going swimmingly until some fucker (never knew whether he was Stoke or Birmingham) chucked a bin through the back window and I had to take off at speed. Lucky I wasn't made an amputee Never did find out if she swallowed .

Grimsby was where I saw a boy (about 9 at a guess) trampled by Stoke fans oh the hilarity To be fair Luton is so horrible that mass violence of the worst kind is perfectly acceptable there...

I've read it was about the togetherness and the love and respect for eachother - but blow jobs too? Sounds a bit gay

Fuck's sake I wasn't a hooligan mate - read the post - it says "SHE". Unless some youth lobbing a bin through my mum's car window makes me a violent lunatic now?

Even with a bin through the window I would have been pushing her head back down if I was wearing the court jesters shoes at the time

You go up Cannock Chase with the missus and get her to nosh you off in the car. At a random point during proceedings I'll jump out of a bush and bung a Wheelie Bin through the back window of your motor. I'm confident it'll kill the mood somewhat .
