I'd've thought Trevor would prefer a bit of Gary's Baldy Colin. Just spoke to Trevor , he says he loves a Gary Baldy. He also loves to dunk and prefers a soggy biscuit as a treat now and then Does he like a chocolate finger Colin?

Re the comment in the programme. It should have read 5000th game so apologies for the error. The club do plan to mark the 5000th league game but that is not this season.
Very sorry for the mistake

Looking at the Sentinel's criteria for the 5000th game it is obviously subjective, games in the Southern League & Birmingham League circa 1908 aren't included in the total, and neither are some FA Cup qualifiers when Europa League ones are. Also the Watney Cup inclusion and not Asia Trophy for example

Is it just my elderly iPad 2 or is The Sentinal website always annoyingly slow and overloaded with ads and other assorted crap?

According to "My Premier League Life" on BBC Sport Website this Saturday at Villa will be our 5,000th game (it doesn't give any criteria for this) and Gudjon has the best win % in my lifetime (50%)!

I just looked at the Shaqiri thread link concerning his injury and thankfully it loaded quickly enough but slowly to close :-)

Is it just my elderly iPad 2 or is The Sentinal website always annoyingly slow and overloaded with ads and other assorted crap? I get nothing of any use whatsoever when I go on there using my phone (iphone 5), I've given up now. The newspaper itself has got a bit better lately in my opinion, only get it when I'm in the area obviously, but then it was dreadful before considering their catchment area. They really need to do something about their website now tho' it's pathetic. A decent proofreader for both wouldn't go amiss either, I'm a bit OCD about that sort of thing and The Sentinel, in both the online and paper version, is riddled with errors.

I'd expect the manager with the best win % in modern times to be someone who managed us when we were in the lowest division we have been in since the league expanded to four divisions. Especially as he delivered promotion as well. In our years (50+ ?)in the top flight we've usually been mid table or bottom half with only the occasional top half finish.

The logical thing to do would be to count ONLY: League, FA Cup, League Cup and league playoff games. However that would exclude European and Anglo Italian games which it could be argued are competitive matches.
As you say - all a bit subjective.

Yeah, you definitely need to count Uefa and Europa games! They're arguably the pinnacle. There are grey areas about what not to count but I think making a distinction between senior matches and the rest is fair enough. I'm sure the 5,000th league game will not go unmarked just because this one has been highlighted.

I've just seen the title of the thread.
5,000 games this season.
Blimey, no wonder the players have made a slow start. They must be pacing themselves.

Stoke didn't play 11 UEFA Europa League matches though did they? It was 12 (2 x qualifier, 2 x play-off round, 6 group matches & 2 x round of 32 knockout matches). The only way to play an odd number of matches would be to reach the Final itself! 2 x Hajduk Split 2 x FC Thun 2 x Dynamo Kiev 2 x Maccabi Tel Aviv 2 x Besiktas 2 x Valencia ......or are we not counting the 1st leg at home to Valencia when Stoke didn't show up!!! smart Arse
