Seems like a loyal sort of fella' to me, think he only left Brum because they wanted to cash in. Don't suspect it was a case of him forcing a move, he doesn't seem the type.
Just a hunch, really bloody glad he's one of ours though. He has the makings of one of the best England keepers ever in my eyes, don't see a single thing going against him right now

With this possibility in mind we should get Bentley from Southend.

Man city will be his next club me thinks.
Sell him for 40 mill, then spend 45 mill in the transfer window to keep our net spend at benjie's 5 mill net spend.
And yes, if Man city can pay 49 mill for Stirling, then they will pay top dollar for Butts.

I hope he's here for teh long term but from what I saw of the pre-season matches Haugard is capable of making teh step up.

If he does I think it'll be in 2/3 years as he's still not quite there and still has a lot to learn. Thankfully he couldn't be at a better club to develop.

Oh Jesus, the one minor positive to Begovic going was that we would no longer have to suffer the ridiculous fairy tale valuations of him on here... Please don't tell me we're starting this again with Butland

I doubt his agent will be pushing for a move away unless it's for a massive fee.

With this possibility in mind we should get Bentley from Southend. Never heard of him however I have said for a while that we should sign Ben Garratt from Crewe and loan him back for a couple of years, he is going to be a top keeper!

Can see him going to Man Utd next summer if he carries on the form he's started with.

Not long, but then we should have Bego back by next year - failing that we could always stick Cameron between the posts, probably the only position he has yet to play in

I do feel that the Butland media love-in will grow far quicker than it ever did for Begovic, and that (bizarrely) seems quite important where transfers, and transfer fees, are concerned. He's young, English, articulate, and a bloody good keeper.
He's tied down for a long while with us, but looking a couple of years down the line, I'm already wishing we'd tagged an extra year or two on that contract of his (4 years wasn't it?).

i can only see jack possibly leaving if a top 4 club guarantees him being the number 1, so as long as lvg does'nt fancy him we should be ok

I would get him and loan him back so we get first dibs on him. And then if we have an abundance of keepers sell him on at a profit. QPR and Hull have already shown substantial interest.

Surely it is inevitable that any player who plays very well will be attracted by top clubs. It is also possible a player will have ambition to go and play for a top European side, including the English "top 6".
It also appears to me (although I have no statistics to prove it) that national team managers prefer to pick players who play regularly together, rather than odd individuals spread across the leagues' clubs. I'm speaking generally. Therefore a player has a better chance of being picked to play for his country if playing for a top club.
Therefore it is highly likely Jack will move on. I was very impressed with Haugaard in pre-season.

Considering the number of foreigners in the top 6 clubs starting line ups, it must be difficult to pick an England team consisting of players who play regularly together?

if i was him id stay in stoke 2-4 years to gain experience before to sign for a big club, it is very important for a keeper to have a good amount of matches played in their careers

Unless he's a money grabbing twat (and who knows - yet) then what he needs is a games - and a couple of years of consistent performance in the top flight. The last thing he needs right now is to do a Begovic and go to a "Top" club and only play in the league cup and Champions League dead rubbers
So as long as we can give him that under his current contract (ie stay in the Prem) then he should be taking the long term view and that's what his agent should be advising.
Goalkeepers typically have longer careers than outfield players - and with that more career earning potentiual - and can usually still command a decent fee in their 40's as a benchwarmer.
