I also thought Robert Huth was probably worth keeping, though they couldn’t deny Asmir Begovic leaving, even if he has swapped first team football for a space on the bench. They also cashed in on Steven Nzonzi who was a good player but one I don’t feel they ever really got on board. He was going so well until the last line when he says we never got Zonz on board He's probably basing his opinion on the fact that N'zonzi twice asked for a transfer and refused the offer of a contract extension. Oh, and maybe not turning up to receive his Player of the Season award.

He was going so well until the last line when he says we never got Zonz on board I can't understand that statement, Nzonzi didn't miss many games, can only assume he means he wasn't played in his right/best position?

Oh, and maybe not turning up to receive his Player of the Season award. Agreed, I think he means mentally rather than physically - you always felt SNZ thought he was better than us, and his dad certainly did! The annual transfer request, at least from him, is thankfully a thing of the past! Walters bravely took up the mantel though...........

He was going so well until the last line when he says we never got Zonz on board Much as I don't like the guy, I think his summary is correct. N'Zonzi was a constant pain ever summer being disgruntled and resisted MH's best efforts to persuade him to sign a new contract. It's true the guy wasn't on board in the sense he was committed to Stoke; he clearly saw us as a stepping stone from Blackburn to a CL club. I think all his summaries are actually quite good (it irks me to say!) focusing on the future not the first 4 matches.

Because he had a good season last year and we've now sold him, he has suddenly turned into the best player we've had for decades, never put a foot wrong and the team can't exist without him (as he's soooo world class and irreplaceable that despite 3 transfer requests in total only 1 club have ever been genuinely interested in him)

Yeah, not saying Nzonzi wasn't bad for us, just that I can see where Keown's coming from in that piece.

It's interesting that we seek solace in media comment when it suits . Basically these guys see very little of us and know nothing as is apparent when they say things that don't suit us

No I think he just means we never managed to turn him into a Stokie. He's probably right it's a shame we couldn't but N'Zonzi is a very complex character I'm not sure what more we could have done to convince him Stoke was his spiritual home. Shame, great great shame.
